Publisher's Description

Have you ever considered your life as an audition? Regardless of who or where we are, we are constantly—often unconsciously—auditioning for a part. Loving wife. Amazing employee. Crafting queen. Socialite. All we really want is to be loved, affirmed, and accepted. What if we could learn to live the life we have always been auditioning for without all the stress? Chasing Famous is a redemptive book that teaches us how to take the focus off ourselves and shift it back on to the glory of God. Written by a professional actress who readily admits that she is the most self-centered person she knows, Chasing Famous provides practical and sometimes humorous examples of scriptural truth that will help you master the natural self-centered tendencies of life. Once you've mastered these issues—and you can—your story will turn the spotlight on God where, you’ll soon discover, what it means to truly live.

In her book Chasing Famous Living the Life youve Always Auditioned For, Lisa shifts the focus from self-seeking affirmation to pointing people to God as the one to be honored. The theme of exchanging auditioning for approval from the crowds and seeking world renown challenges the reader to change the focus and to seek to proclaim the excellences of God.

Chapters are filled with Scripture truths and an invitation to:

    Embrace yourself as unique

Find Gods unique purpose for you

Break free of the bondage of shame and guilt

Boldly step out to accomplish your mission of

proclaiming the redemptive message of Christ.

Lisas writing is articulate, relevant, profoundly thought provoking, and rich in illustrative metaphor. Lisa is openly transparent; and shares an account of an incident from her life when she was young, vulnerable, and felt alone and trapped. She also tells of events in her career where God orchestrated unexpected blessing after a period of testing.

The Questions to Consider feature at the end of each chapter can be easily adapted for use as a Reading Guide for book clubs or a discussion guide for small group Bible studies.

Destined to become a spokesperson for a new generation of Christian women, Lisa Lloyd is a successful actress and writer and is a popular speaker at womens retreats, conferences, and other events, nationally. Chasing Famous Living the Life youve Always Auditioned For is highly endorsed by her peers, and by well-known Christian leaders.

Have you ever wanted to be famous? What would it be like to have people asking for your autograph? In this engaging book the author is an actress who wants to make God famous. I loved how she uses theater sayings to illustrate how we all have a purpose. It will require from us to step out of our comfort zone to make God famous. For some that is not easy, but the author eloquently quoted Isaiah 43:7, " That His name and His celebrity be known throughout the world."

I think about the different people in the Bible who made God famous by His healing , strength and forgiveness. We all remember David and Goliath and how God equipped David to slay the giant . Through that act David made God famous by trusting Him. Do we fully trust God? Many of us have heard lies throughout our lives that we are not good enough, but that thinking needs to stop. We have been choosen by Him so therefore we are good enough to fulfill our destiny. I loved how the author includes scriptures throughout the book that reinforces His word. There are also questions at the end of every chapter that can be used as a bible study.

Something the author said really hit me and made me realize my thinking has been all wrong. I always worry that my blog is not as good as others and my reviews are horrible. Does God care about how many followers I have? "But God will hold me accountable for making Him famous while I live- to my kids, my husband , my neighbors, to the cashier at the grocery store, and the employee at the drive-through." I see that my focus has been on trying to make myself famous, instead of living a life that honors Him. The author has written a book that is honest, transparent and encouring. I loved the different topics she uses and how we can become stronger by making God famous.

"And when we relinquish control, guess what happens to the image of God for those around us? He is made famous. "

I received a copy of this book from LitFuse. The review is my own opinion.

"Chasing Famous" is Lisa sharing her heart of getting back on track with chasing God and living life with God as the focus instead of herself. Every day we are each trying to improve ourselves for a certain role, be the model wife, be the mom who has the perfect home and the perfect kids, be the woman who can juggle all the hats she has to wear. However, it is not the life that God intended for each of us to live. Each chapter Lisa shares her story and her heart in, then a Biblical account was shared, drawing from various individuals from the Bible and their examples of living lives for Christ. Lisa then ends each chapter with questions to reflect on and answer. I really liked the layout of the chapters as it was easy to relate to Lisa as she was so open with her heart and life. Also, the Biblical accounts were familiar, yet there was some new insight I gained as well. Finally, it was easy to really take this book and relate it to my own life with the questions with each chapter. This is a great, easy read that will have you thinking about your own life.

Lloyd chased after fame and success through her professional acting career. She came to the realization that her success was not to be measured by applause but by how well she represented God and glorified Him.

She shares her experiences and the lessons she has learned. She reminds us that our desires for affirmation and success were given by God and He alone can fulfill them. Hers is a good example of a life transformed by God.

This book would be a good one for young women who think they need to find their worth and success in their appearance. Lloyd is very honest in sharing her life experiences and how God has showed her where true success lies. There are questions at the end of each chapter for personal reflection or group use. Lloyd has also included the entire Bible passages she uses so this would be a good book for those unfamiliar with the Bible.

There was one area I found a bit troublesome. Based on what the Bible says at the end of the creation account, Lloyd says we are "very good." It seems she has forgotten the effects of the Fall. Everyone is not beautiful nor is everyone very good. We are fallen creatures, born in sin. Lloyd does mention the evils of humankind when she writes about human trafficking and forced prostitution. But this is not a theological work. It is more of an encouraging book for those who think about their outer appearance rather than the condition of their spiritual self. Lloyd speaks often of her relationship to God but not about the saving grace of believing in Jesus Christ.

Food for thought: Our purpose on this earth has nothing to do with us and everything to do with Him...

I received a complimentary egalley of this book through Litfuse. My comments are an independent and honest review.
