Although he raises some interesting points, I wish MacArthur would stop writing! This book along with Truth Wars demonizes fellow believers, misquotes and misrepresents fellow believers, and uses extreme examples and fanatics to describe the norm. Charismatics, as well as those in the emergent movement, cannot be lumped into a single category and to do so, is misleading and deceptive.
Many people are confusion on these issues, and this book offers a clear understanding of how and why Charismatic spiritual gifts came about. I highly recommend this book for folks with questions on these issues.
This book is an outstanding work and a great read in exposing the false teaching in the Charismatic movement that has created chaos and confusion. As a former Charismatic and now a Baptist, proper perspective was given to the significance of scripture over spiritual experience.
The charasmatics preach a false gospel of signs and lying wonders and most importantly that one can loose their salvation. This book is a must read for those who have either put their faith in this false gospel or those who are genuinely saved but ignorant to the topic at hand.Using the Bible, MacArthur does a nice job of allowing the Word of God to speak for itself.
