Tell us a little about yourself. I'm a author who is passionate about writing. I love to use words to touch the hearts of readers. In this way, my writing is a ministry. In addition to a background in psychology that includes teaching at the university level, I also teach Fine Arts. It is my firm belief that we are called to develop and use all of our gifts to serve God and others. I do, however, want people to enjoy a great read!
What was your motivation behind this project? For one of my favorite books, Anna Karenina, the great author, Tolstoy, found inspiration for the story in a newspaper article. Therefore, he began with the ending. In my novel, I did the same thing. I had read a small newspaper clipping many years ago that stuck with me. It was a matter of finding the story that could lead to that ending. I won't spoil it for readers by divulging more. Please buy the book and find out for yourself. I'm not comparing myself to Tolstoy by any means. But when you add God into the equation, you have something that could be life transforming.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope that they will enjoy the story as they also take an inner journey toward their purpose in this life.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? I have only one goal each year. I felt strongly that God wanted me to work on this novel as my year goal. It drew me into a very special place as He unfolded the story and characters for me.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? The Bible is my favorite book and a true inspiration always. Authors that I have really enjoyed include Miss Read and Jan Karon.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: I think that there are dreams in your life that are as yet unfulfilled for any number of reasons. God has placed special dreams in your heart. Take a chance. Begin to work toward even one of them. I didn't know I could write a novel, yet it was a finalist for a national book award and is now available for purchase.
