Private investigator Luke Murphy lost a family member in the same incident. The two team up to solve the crime, along with several other crimes along the way. I thought this book was very good, and a nice conclusion to the trilogy. The first two books should be read before this one, as it is a continuing story.
BeckySW MIAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Engrossing Police Procedural!January 22, 2017BeckySW MIAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Abby Hart has a keen sense of justice as she works cold cases. However, the one that plagues her most is personal. Can she and PI Luke Murphy prove the governor's wife was behind the fire that killed Abby's parents and the restaurant cook twenty-seven years ago?
Janice Cantore shows her knowledge of humanity in Catching Heat. Cantore's various characters, from police to homeless people in a camp to political leaders to "grunts," are multi-dimensional. Showing various facets of her character's personalities allows the characters to control the story, creating twists and turns with their unpredictable actions. As the reader, I feared along with Luke for Abby's ultimate sanity and wondered how wise it was for her to pursue so personal a case.
One thing I was thankful for, was enough back story that I wasn't lost as I had read book one, but not book two. Book three picked up well, and was tightly written.
Very engrossing! Recommended for those who like police procedurals and romantic suspense.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author and Bookfun. I have voluntarily left my own, unbiased review.
nkwbookreviewer5 Stars Out Of 5Christian Suspense, Mystery, Action, RomanceJanuary 19, 2017nkwbookreviewerQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Catching Heat by author Janice Cantore is the last book in her Cold Case Justice series. Just like the other books, this one is action packed and full of suspense, mystery, and twists. Faith is not forgotten in this Christian novel either. It is a well thought, organized, and written book. The author has a great way of taking readers right into the book. Her characters are well defined right down to their flaws. The dialog is authentic and plentiful. Questions posed throughout the book give readers even more to think about.
This is the story of Detective Abby Hart, who has been searching for many years for proof that the governor's wife was behind the death of her parents. Finally after 27 years Abby gets a lead even though she is working on another case.
Private Investigator Luke is back and works to help the FBI to sollve cold cases. Luke has brought Abby's old training officer, Woody, in to help as well as Abby. There is espionage, adventure, mystery, murder, action, romance, twists and turns.
The novel was so fast-paced and exciting. I was invested within the first few pages. It is a fast paced page turner. As they start their cases things get very interesting. Within pages one case, becomes two for the trio of investigators. Quickly two cases became three and they all crashed down on Abby, Luke, and Woody.
This is an excellent mystery. The author understands police and law enforcement as she is retired from it. Her descriptions are first hand. I would highly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys Christian Mystery Suspense. This would make a great book for discussion. You will want to talk to someone as you read this page turner of a book.
I rated it 5 out of 5 stars. I was given the book by Book Fun (The Book Club Network) and here is my honest review.

tumcsecTuscaloosa, ALAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Hot Hot HotJanuary 7, 2017tumcsecTuscaloosa, ALAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Catching Heat was hot, hot, hot. It took me a short time to catch on to the plot but once I did, I couldn't put it down. The characters were very interesting, the plot was loaded and I was intrigued throughout. Detective Abby Hart with years of police experience, was put on a task force to solve a cold case murder. On the force with her is PI Luke Murphy. They have been friends for a while and both have an unsolved cold case murder in common. Abby's parents and Luke's uncle were all killed and she is obsessed with the Triple Seven fire. The cold case they are assigned to involves the murder of a high school student. As they delve into this case they are also asked to help look for a fugitive that has been hiding for years after murdering his two sons and attempting to murder his wife. Working on these two cases, with the Triple Seven in the backs of their minds, brings some interesting witnesses along with suspense and danger. The Governor and First Lady are deep into Abby's suspicions as being involved in the Triple Seven murders and she's determined to prove it somehow. With all three of these cases to look into, how will they all be solved, or will they?
I get great enjoyment in reading these books by Janice Cantore. Having worked as a police officer for over twenty two years, she can write with knowledge that only her background experience brings.
I received this book through Bookfun and was not required to write a review, positive or otherwise.
