This companion provides commentary and devotional reflection on each of the Gospel readings in the Book of Common Prayer, for Sundays and for other occasions during the year. It is intended as an aid for those who preach, for those who prepare for worship by reading the scriptures of the day and for those who say the daily office alone.
Each reflection is followed by a simple and heartfelt prayer and a quotation drawn from the breadth of the Christian tradition. A helpful introduction enlarges our understanding of the Gospels and their place in Prayer Book worship.

"A worthy last fruit of a gifted teacher, author and priest...The writing has an economy of style but it does not lack depth or variety in tone...It is work of considerable scholarship."
