The Calvert History and Geography Grade 2 curriculum is comprised of a teacher's guide and ten student workbooks. Each full-color student workbook features fun activities for each lesson, each of which begins with a set of objectives. Workbooks feature 3-5 sections, self-test sections, and a final unit test. The teacher's guides include a list of materials needed, additional learning activities, independent study activities, a unit review, alternative tests, and student worksheet & test answers. Student worksheets are also integrated throughout as needed.
This program begins with a review of the previous year before introducing units the early events in America (Jamestown, Pilgrims, early Colonies and Revolutionary War), the American system of government & branches of government, local & state governments, our role as citizens, understanding different types of maps, and American history through Westward Expansion.
