The Calvert Science Grade 1 curriculum is comprised of two teacher's guides and ten student workbooks. Each full-color student workbook features fun activities for each lesson. Workbooks feature 3-5 sections, self-test sections, and a final unit test. The teacher's guides include reduced-size student pages with the correct answers overlaid in addition to lessons that include a list of materials needed, the main concept, objective, teacher goal, vocabulary, and instructions for teaching the lesson. Student worksheets and alternative tests are also integrated throughout.
This program offers a gentle introduction to science with units on being healthy, our world, energy, machines, light, hearing, the senses, animals, and plants. Children will learn about how light travels, how touch helps you, what animals eat, how plants grow, and more!
