Young writes as if her words are the very Word of God. They are not. This is a very dangerous devotional which leads the reader astray from the Word of God.

I had received a pocket version of this book. I liked it so much that I bought four book versions for friends and family. I highly recommend this for anyone that needs more WORD in their lives, which we all do.

I had planned to order several copies of "Jesus Calling For Christmas," but also considered this devotional. After reading the one-star reviews (which I recommend everyone do, by clicking on "1 Star" in the review breakdowns, which brings those up separately), I'm having second thoughts. I, too, have a problem with someone speaking for God in the first person.

Had the author made more clear that these are only her interpretations, it would be less of a problem. However, she does speak as if she IS God, and I can't go along with that. Some of the reviews state that she claims God dictated to her, and I believe only the Bible has that quality. I'm probably going to skip her Christmas devotional, too.

I do believe she may be well-intentioned, but that's not enough.

I have read this devotional daily for years. It is the most amazing way to start every day with a focus on what is most important to take through it. I gifted my three sisters with a copy for Christmas this year and am prayerful that it has the same impact on their lives.

Gorgeous book! I ordered several for my daughter to give as gifts.
