Tell us a little about yourself. Owner and designer of Gardenfire, a Christian design company that makes witness t-shirts and gifts for believers that want to share their faith. I am 34, married and have 4 amazing kids that we homeschool. Our marketing and design office is in our home so there is plenty of family fun time. Our mission is to clothe believers in trendy and comfortable tees that help them express their hope in Christ. We are passionate about talking to people about the love of Jesus. Sometimes it can feel awkward to start those conversations.
What was your motivation behind this project? Our mission is to clothe believers in trendy and comfortable tees that help them express their hope in Christ. We are passionate about talking to people about the love of Jesus. Sometimes it can feel awkward to start those conversations. Wearing a Gardenfire message tee will sometimes start that dialogue for us.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? It is our hope that you will wear this tee and be reminded of how much God loves you, forgives you and expects from you. He has called you and he has guided your steps. Sometimes our designs are short and to the point and even at times reduce complicated ideas into small shallow nuggets, but we are trusting that those clever slogans lead people to ask for more. We don't believe that the word of God can be summed up on a t-shirt. However, we know that this culture is attracted to short and catchy phrases that help them remember things. We want them to remember there is a loving God who is for us!
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? Since September 2000 I have been studying scripture for ideas to share on t-shirts. This work keeps me constantly in the word learning and growing. There are times that I feel cynical about my faith and could even become bored with church and service, but coming out with a new line lifts me up and constantly has me asking God "what is next?" , "what do you want to say today?".
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? There are so many brands of clothing that I am inspired by from skateboard companies to women's boutique lines. Ideas come at me from cartoons, movies, ads, songs and just about everywhere. Scripture + Culture is the recipe for all Gardenfire tees.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: We release 2 full Gardenfire product lines yearly, but we design hundreds of t-shirts throughout the year for youth groups, speakers, bands and ministries. You can support our t-shirt ministry by sharing our custom brand with your church leadership or event planner.
