"A Place Called Heaven" by Robert Jeffress is a great title for anyone who wants to, as the title says, learn more about heaven. Around 240 pages, the book addresses many topics, some of which are:

    1. The more we think of heaven, the more effective we will be on earth.

    2. 4 ways thinking about heaven benefits life on earth.

    3. 7 principles for evaluating so-called "near death experiences".

    4. Descriptions of where the righteous (accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord) and unbelievers go immediately after death.

    5. 3 myths about God and heaven.

    6. 3 activities believers will enjoy in the new heaven and new earth.

    7. Nothing we have said, thought, or done will escape God's scrutiny.

    8. 5 types of crowns believers can receive from Jesus.

    9. 4 signposts that point the way to heaven.

    10. 6 practical steps to take to prepare for the journey to heaven.

The book is well-written, easily understandable (whether or not you may agree with the author's viewpoints), and smoothly transitions from topic to topic. The only issue I have is with his analogy about Jim Marshall's running to the wrong end zone that resulted in a safety (even though his team, the Minnesota Vikings, won the game). He states that Marshall was a Super Bowl champion. I was a Vikings fan growing up and remember them losing 4 Super Bowls (Kansas City, Miami, Pittsburgh, and Oakland) without ever winning the Super Bowl.

Unless I am missing something, Jeffress' statement needs correction.

Comment aside, this is a very good read and will be a helpful resource for future lesson or messages on the topic of heaven. I was given a review copy by Baker Books in exchange for a fair review.

Thanks you CBC for carrying this book. I have come to respect Dr. Jeffress more & more. His public

persona and his sermons and his books are worth the listening, reading, etc. We have just ordered

his new book regarding questions unbelievers may ask about heaven. Dr. Jeffress so expertly gives

the biblical answers to those questions as well. All done with great grace & truth.
