Take a journey with Dr. Ransom to the red planet of Malacandra, then to the temptations of Perelandra, and onward toward the dark forces of That Hideous Strength. C.S. Lewis' acclaimed Space Trilogy offers many lessons to be learned about greed, technology and the human condition, but Christian readers will most appreciate the theological and ethical message at the heart of this wonderful science-fiction series!

Simply amazing. A must-read trilogy for any fan of Lewis's. I would say that these books are not merely read "for fun". In all honesty, I found the very foundations of my faith tested by reading "Perelandra" - and hoping beyond hope that the protagonist would find the answers that I needed! (He does, by the way) All three are outstanding in their own or any other literary genre. Three of the best books I've ever read.
Not for the faint of heart! These books are absolutely wonderful. It's no wonder Lewis called <I>Perelandra</I> his favorite of his works. HOWEVER, I wouldn't recommend them for children. For those concerned, there is some nudity described (<I>Perelandra</I> is basically an Eden story), & there is minor swearing (surprised me!).If you're worried, read them before giving them to your child.<br /><br />I personally consider these adult reading. Not only because of the above, but because of the physical toll these books take on the reader. The antagonists present frighteningly strong and persuasive arguments for their views (some of which are downright blatant evil), to such an extent that you begin to feel like Puddleglum under the Green Lady's spell, before the protagonist finally finds his voice to combat them. Never has spiritual warfare been so vividly described. Even Peretti cannot compare. Read them if you can. They will change your life.
This is not for the novice reader... except it is. Excellent doctrine, excellent analogies, and a highly enjoyable read. Ok read for Juvenile fiction _if_ your young person is highly intelligent and loves Lewis... if they are starting out, begin them with the Narnia series instead, if college age, this is a great start. However, The Space Trilogy is one of the most masterful works on the creation and our purpose in Life that exists in classic literature. It is an excellent series, and a second or tertiary reading only gleans more info. A very peaceful series, and a great introduction to Lewis if you have a Sci Fantasy lover in your home.
