Product Description

Darkness divides the land.

Half of Er'Rets is locked beneath an impenetrable shroud. On the side that still sees the sun, two young people struggle to understand the mind-communication abilities thrust upon them.

It's called bloodvoicing. Some say it's a gift. One of the newly "gifted" wish it had never come.

Achan had been a slave all his life. Worse than a slave - a stray. He is consigned to the kitchens of a lord and forced to swallow a foul potion every day. When an enigmatic knight offers to train Achan for the Kingsguard, he readily accepts. But his new skills with the sword do not prepare him for the battle raging between the voices in his head.

Vrell Sparrow is not who she seems. She masquerades as a boy to avoid capture by the powerful forces that seek to exploit her. But Vrell feels called to help a young squire who recently discovered his bloodvoicing gift, even if doing so requires her to work with those who could destroy her.

While Achan learns to use his new ability, Vrell struggles to shut hers down. All the voices strive to learn Achan and Vrell's true identities - and a different kind of voice is calling them both.

Toward a destination that is by darkness hid.

Author/Artist Review

Author: Jill Williamson

Submitted: June 24, 2010

Tell us a little about yourself.  My husband and I have worked with teens in the youth pastor role for the past 12 years. I originally wanted to be a fashion designer, but I gave up on that career choice when life became too much like The Devil Wears Prada. I was staying home with my children when I started writing.

What was your motivation behind this project?  A half burned-half living tree. My son and I came upon it one day when we were walking around Burbank. I thought the tree was so cool and ran home and Photo shopped the tree that is the header on my website.

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  That God created them for a purpose and he loves them. And an entertaining, gripping story.

How were you personally impacted by working on this project?  By the idea that God is the only one who can help us discover who he intended us to be. We need to rely on him for direction in life. Without him, we are lost.

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  I love Frank Peretti and Ted Dekker's writing. I grew up reading Nancy Drew, the Little House books, the Narnia books, and Tolkien.

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  This is book one in a trilogy. I wrote it for teens, but it was published as a book for all ages. I recommend it for readers 14 and older. I also love to encourage teen writers. Come and visit me on my author website or find me on Facebook to talk more. God bless!
