Inkwell Reviews4 Stars Out Of 5Review From inkwellreviews.comJanuary 1, 2017Inkwell ReviewsQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Irene Hannon is the type of author that, at the end of one of her books, you let out a dreamy sigh. The dashing man has just swooped in and saved the little lady. Ok ok, its not really like that at all. This book is not at all what I would call a go hard suspense novel. I would label it as Stress-free suspense. This is not bad; I am personally a huge fan of Irene Hannon. There are just couple of problems I have with her books. In this particular book, one of the main character, Lisa Grant was a bit feministic. Now a lot of books now-a-days are really riding the feminism band-wagon but I personally think it goes against the views of the Bible, so therefore I am not for this point of view. This book had a VERY small amount and usually Irenes books are not like this so I dont think this should stop you from reading the book. On to predictability. If you have read some of Irene Hannon series, you know what I mean. If you havent, let me explain. The plot is very predictable. Once you start reading you almost immediately will know what is going to happen and what the results will be. I am not saying that this is bad, just like I said, predictable. If you are going to give Irene Hannon a try, I would strongly recommend you do so. I would also say that you should start with this series, this is her best.

I read the second book about a month ago and realized I had missed the first book. I enjoyed the second so much that I just had to read this one and am glad I did. Theres lots of action, suspense, mystery, and romance. The romance is more like a hint at the potential of things to come. The book starts mysteriously with a prologue involving three young college students trying to decide what to do about the body of a fourth person who was somehow killed while they were on a joyride out in the country. Immediately questions come to mind: who is the deceased person, how did she die, and who is the person speaking in first person that seems to take charge? Then the author moves to the present day with a skeleton being found on a construction site. Although there is much speculation on the part of the detectives as well as the reader about the skeleton, the writer keeps us guessing. Many of the answers dont come until near the end of the book. The tension really builds throughout the book but gets intense the closer you get to the end. I believe anyone who loves great suspense will enjoy this book. I recommend it. By the way, there are three McGregor brothers so I am looking forward to book three and the third brothers story.

She's a very versatile author being that she can write a good suspense or and touching romance, but when she combines the two I know I am in for an exceptional story. I was not disappointed in this book at all.
This is the first book in her Men of Valor series.
A wonderful book to start the series. The plot immediately pulled me in. Lisa Grant is the Chief of Police in Carson and there has been a discovery of a skeleton by a construction crew on the edge of town. She put in a call to County for some assistance and that came in the form of Mac McGregor, a detective for County. The plot has good pace that kept me turning the pages until the end.
Lisa Grant is a beautiful, young woman who has moved to Carson looking for a slower pace in law enforcement, but with limited resources she finds herself very busy. Mac is a former Navy SEAL. He's a person used to running the show, but understands he's at the scene to assist. I liked both characters immediately. Their determination to unravel a mystery showed their dedication to their professions. Unfortunately someone doesn't want this mystery solved and will go to any lengths to protect it.
Lisa and Mac have an instant attraction and full of romantic tension. I liked how Mac was protective of Lisa, yet he also let her be her own person.
This is a wonderful story that has a mystery and a romance and loaded with suspense. There's an intriguing plot twist that will keep you glued to the pages.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves suspense.

Great mystery, a little romance but not overwhelming and mushy. Will be passing this one on.

While land is being cleared for a new housing project, a human skeleton is discovered and a cold case murder needs to be solved. Chief Lisa Grant has every confidence in her team's abilities to solve this case so when county detective Mac McGregor arrives on the scene and things become difficult between the two.
Lisa and Mac make an adorable couple. Even when they are at odds with each other they are adorable. It really makes the book more enjoyable when the couples have chemistry. But it also makes the book when the villain is a true villain. The villain in this book was true evil. It gave me shivers to read about some of the things that she did.
True to her writing style Irene Hannon pulls together a beautifully written, fast paced novel with characters that are well defined and believable. However I think because of some of the content you might, if you are a late night reader like me, bring the dog in and leave a few lights one.
