Dave and Janet have four married children and love being Grammie and Grampa to ten beautiful grandchildren. They make their home in Lake Forest, California.
Janet Thompson, founder of Saddleback Church's Woman to Woman Mentoring Ministry, has established herself as a qualified author, with a MA in Christian Leadership and an MBA. After authoring numerous books, she now takes a serious look at female leadership and team building. Written for female leaders, Thompson's The Team that Jesus Built delves into team development, while exposing problems and proposing solutions.
Reminding her readers that any team is always God's possession and never theirs, Thompson reveals a formula for team development that centers on Jesus' attitude and strategy in choosing his disciples. By studying Jesus' interaction with his followers, Thompson teaches that a well built team never comes from a leader caught up in self glory. Instead, a leader garners team success in displaying strong spirituality and godly motives.
Thompson reaches out to women leaders through personal experience. She shares her struggles and victories as she shows readers how to be successful, godly leaders. Although The Team that Jesus Built seems, at times, categorized and organized to the point of confusion, it's an essential tool for any woman hoping to lead her team, whether big or small, as Jesus led his. I asked Janet if this book is specific for traditional "women's ministry" and she said no, definitely not. The title in itself tells you it's a great book, but the content is excellent, too.

Even though I've been in ministry for more than 20 years, this book inspired me to keep pressing on, but more importantly, reminded me of the reason I do what I do...to serve the Lord.
If you haven't yet built a team, this book won't make you feel discouraged for not having done so, but inspired to do it in the way that Jesus did!
Thanks, Janet, for encouraging my heart and reminding me, through this book, of the tremendous privilege of leading people.
