that girl, forever on the outside looking in. But she needs her confidence this weekend. She’s the acclaimed "beauty-maker" for the Alabama society wedding of the decade.

When high-school crush Tom Wells Jr. also returns to town and shows up at her shop looking for a haircut, Ginger’s thinly veiled insecurities threaten to keep her locked away from love, Despite Tom’s best efforts, Ginger can’t forget how he disappeared on her twelve years ago and broke her heart. This is a novella about a kind man and a hurting woman. Ginger is vulnerable yet strong. Tom was unassuming and gentlemanly. This will make for a tender read. So, yes, I would recommend this book to anyone who wants something for a quick read. Also, I would suggest that the author turn this to a full-length novel.

Review: Interesting story over all. It was a little slow for me. I liked Ginger and felt a lot of empathy for the childhood trauma. I have heard that it is hard to overcome small town roles, but she was away for a long time and it seemed odd that she would move back to her hometown given they way she was treated. The story was fast paced at points. Ginger and her mother moved into a better relationship, while she was torn between liking Tom and not wanting to be around him. Predictable over all but definitely not your run of the mill heroine.

I would like to thank Net Galley and Zondervan Fiction for allowing me to read and review this book in return for a free copy and I was never asked to write a favorable review by anyone.

I really enjoyed this well-written story about seeing yourself as Jesus sees you. I really felt for Ginger and the rejection she felt because of her scars. She actually had physical scars from a fire that she covered with scarves, so I think the book description is a little misleading. Tom was such an amazing man of God! To not only see past the scars to who she really was, but to show her God's love so she comes to Christ rather than putting his own feelings first was wonderful to see. There were tears in my eyes at different parts of this story, especially the ending. This story was truly beautiful. I highly recommend it if you like romance or need a reminder about how much Jesus loves you!

I received a free kindle copy of this book from Litfuse Publicity in exchange for an honest review.
