What happens when a nineteen-year-old boy leaves home and heads into the jungles to evangelize a murderous tribe of South American Indians? For Bruce Olson, it meant capture, disease, terror, loneliness, and torture. But what he discovered by trial and error has revolutionized then world of missions.
Bruchko, which has sold more than 300,000 copies worldwide, has been called more fantastic and harrowing than anything Hollywood could concoct. Living with the Motilone Indians since 1961, Olson has won the friendship of four presidents of Colombia and has made appearances before the United Nations because of his efforts. Bruchko includes the story of his 1988 kidnapping by communist guerrillas and the nine months of captivity that followed. This revised version of Olsons story will amaze you and remind you that simple faith in Christ can make anything possible. [Bruchko is] an all-time missionary classic. Bruce Olson is a modern missionary hero who has modeled for us in our time the reaching of the unreached tribes. --Loren Cunningham Co-founder, Youth With A Mission
Bruce Olson, born in Minnesota and now a citizen of Colombia, is a linguist and graduate of sociology from a South American university. He lives in the jungle on the border of Colombia and Venezuela.

I am humbled, and it makes me hunger to trust God with everything, 110%.
Trusting God each day, no preconceived ideas of what that should look like.
Thank-you, Bruce for living a life for God, not man.

A testament to the power of following after God. Proof of the changes that can be made and the souls that can be won for Him when one surrenders all to the One who gave all for us.

I was happily surprised to find at the beginning of this book that Bruce Olson is from Minnesota, which is where I live. So, it made the stories of his childhood and his youth all the more easy to picture in my mind. It's crazy for me to think of someone from here in MN traveling to live in the jungle with a group of people most considered "savages."
I read this book in just three sittings and in less than a day. It is just too amazing and suspenseful to put down, and it's a true story! God clearly gave Bruce this particular calling and was with him every step of his journey, whether that be in a foreign country with no money, sick and lost in the jungle, or helping him see the way to go about explaining Jesus to a people who have never heard His name before. This book will surprise you, inspire you, and probably even disgust you a little, at times. But it is a great story and shows you how much God can use each and every one of us in spreading the Good News.
