From the opening paragraph to the final page, author Sherri Burgess's miraculous story helps us understand more about how only a holy God can save a soul and change the course of a life. Her own journey vividly shares how God teaches and refines us-through joy, pain, and His power made perfect in our weakest moments, when we would otherwise give up. Author Sherri Burgess, wife of Rick Burgess of The Rick and Bubba Show, knows this to be true. After the earthly death of her youngest son, Bronner, Burgess asked, Why?! And God answered.
Journey with her through this powerful testimony of healing from an unimaginable loss to understand the purpose behind the pain. An empowering resource for book-club discussion or small-group Bible study, this is much more than a retelling of an inspiring story. Just Commonly5 Stars Out Of 5Emotional & InspiringFebruary 6, 2016Just CommonlyQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Be warn. Those who pick up "Bronner" by Sherri Burgess will shed some tears. No. Not some, but a lot. I teared, sobbed, cried so many times reading through this short, but heavy laden book, that my sinuses were cleared, nose dried and my eyes red and sting-y from all the wiping and re-wiping. Even thinking about this book, the story in it and the pain parents feel with a a tragic lost of a child aches me. If we feel this way, how do you think our mighty Father feels when even one of us gets lost?
Blubbering aside, "Bronner" is a brutally honest, emotionally heart-wrenching and ultimately inspiring and encouraging read on turning your grief to God, and let Him carry you through. Backed with Scripture, Sherri shared with us her raw emotions, questions, and understanding. A testament of having a relationship with Him, and trusting His plans for us, and for our love ones. It's beautiful and you should read it. Read it now or read it in the future, either way, your take on it may be different depending on your stage and journey in life, but one thing is for sure. You will be inspired and even encouraged by the story of "Bronner" and Rick and Sheri Burgess to seek Him first - hold out to Him and not lose faith. Don't forget the reader's guide in the back of the book. Use it as a study guide, a bible study or even for a small group/book club.
"God's provision is deep and wide, always giving us exactly what we need exactly when we need it." (49)
God will let bad things happen, but He can use the bad things, things that break you and make something beautiful out of it. Trust in Him.

I can't imagine having to go through what Sherri and Rick Burgess went through and coming out of it praising God. But that's exactly what happened. Sherri credits the writing of the whole book not to herself but to the Holy Spirit. It took her five years to write, putting it away at times for various reasons. Rick even spoke at his son Bronner's memorial service and it's included in this book, word for word. I've always been a big fan of the Rick and Bubba show and remember so well when this happened. This book was written to honor Bronner's memory but more importantly to explore why God allows pain and suffering. This is explored fully and quite well with many scriptures to back up what she writes. God knew what would happen even before Bronner was born and he even had a hand in giving him his name. An unusual name, one that people would recognize and remember. Sherri's faith and love for God has become so much stronger through this whole process, and like her I'm praying that this book reaches many that do not know the Lord and will be changed by it. I know I've been challenged by it to become closer to my Savior.

readerwriter5 Stars Out Of 5a time to understandFebruary 2, 2016readerwriterQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Just a short time after losing her son, Sherri Burgess began to write her story. She was desperate to understand why this tragedy had to belong to her family. Although only a small portion of the book actually divulges the details of what happened the day her son Bronner died, from the first page to the last there is a proclamation of Sherri's firm belief that God is good, He is holy, and He makes everything beautiful in its time.
The Lord has blessed her walk of faith through this journey and produced a work of inspiration. I highly recommend it!
