The Bible calls us to "fear not" on many occasions. But just how is that accomplished when every news item seems designed to get us wringing our hands? The real and the honest-to-goodness truth is that we have no promises that what we fear the most won't happen. Yet our fears do not deserve the deepest parts of us, nor do they deserve our attention or allegiance. Instead, we should offer our attention and allegiance to God, who is trustworthy, who is truth, and whose promises are real.
And the sooner we allow ourselves to address the truth about our fears, the sooner we can allow God in to redeem them. Once we gaze upon our fears with honest indignation, we can see that, yes, God is even bigger than the worst thing we can imagine.

Using her own story as a catalyst, Maria Furlough shows readers how to overcome fear for good. She calls readers to make a list of their fears, to choose to bring those fears to God rather than acting on them, and to trust God with the future. She shows how when we give God full control over our lives, choosing his sovereignty over our own ability, we can break the cycle of fear, grow through suffering, and trust God to fulfill his promises of protection and peace.
Anyone who is filled with anxiety over their personal circumstances, the state of the world today, or even their fear-clogged social media feeds will welcome this hands-on journey from fear to freedom.
Jeri M5 Stars Out Of 5Breaking the Fear CycleMarch 16, 2018Jeri MQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0My husband always says he doesn't have to worry about anything because I do enough worrying for the two of us. One of the concepts in the book that grabbed my attention was about making decisions - the simple as well as the big ones. Are my decisions based on worry and fear or based on trusting God? What if I make a decision not to do something based on some kind of fear, then miss out on some amazing blessings that were in store for me? This book is chocked full of questions just like that, things to ask yourself and mull over - questions that can be game changers in your life. As a woman in her "senior" years who has lived double the amount of life that the author Maria Furlough has, I am awed at her wisdom and insights that were hard earned at the foot of the cross.

JoyfulleeWritten5 Stars Out Of 5From Pain to PeaceMarch 7, 2018JoyfulleeWrittenQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0Author Maria Furlough is a companion in the rawness of pain, the relevance of loss and the reality of fear. She knows her stuff because she has lived it; she writes with honesty and compassion. In Breaking the Fear Cycle, Maria gives voice to truth: "We are not meant to muscle through our fear on our own. Because we are weak, we are not able to conquer it, beat it, and get rid of it. We are not yet home in heaven; suffering will be a part of these days." And she gives voice to wisdom, gained only through sitting in God's Word and wrestling with His promises while carrying Baby Gideon: "Some crying feels like it will last forever. Many mornings I soaked my pillow all the way through. ... When we cry alongside Jesus, he whispers gently that he loves us and will bring us safely to a place of joy again ... through Christ in us and the hope that comes with him, God promises to protect us from endless, permanent crying." This book combines Maria's personal story and valuable scripture verses that remind the reader of God's provision, protection and power against darkness. TIP: Be sure to highlight the practical tools and underline the soul-soothing sentences this is a resource to return to time and again, as well as a blanket of peace with which to rest. (I am a mama, as well as an author, who has held two full-term dead infants in her arms. I soak up Maria's insight and am proud to recommend this book. I received a copy from her, but this is my own personal opinion. No review was required.)
Amanda V.5 Stars Out Of 5This book is truly a gift!!March 6, 2018Amanda V.Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5The best part of this book is the fact that its written as if Maria were talking to you, her friend. Breaking the fear cycle is not only a book that helps to give a framework for facing fear but also a guide on how to live by fighting fear. Maria has touched my life with her story and her walk with God. Her honesty and ability to be so vulnerable make this book all the more relatable. We all struggle with fear on an hourly, daily, and weekly basis. Marias book is a great reminder that fear is a liar and that Gods promises are true. This book will help breathe life into the dark places that none of us want to admit we have, but if we are honest with ourselves and with God than these dark places are filled with light and darkness cannot hide any longer. Marias story is one of strength and love and how God can take the most fearfully broken situations and turn them into healing beyond all measure.
