Breaking the Chains--and Silence--of Domestic Abus

Breaking Invisible Chains tackles the difficult issue of domestic abuse and those who are breaking the silence as survivors. Through these true, personal and often heart-breaking stories, including their own, the authors (and therapist) seek to offer hope and encouragement to women who have been caught in the spiral of emotional and physical abuse. They share with women that those invisible chains can be broken. I was asked to review this book by one of the authors, and the publisher sent me a complimentary copy. I received no payment for this review.

Being a woman who was formally involved in a relationship where domestic violence occurred I high recommend this book.

All the stories and insights written by Jeenie Gordon, family therapist are helpful and offer hope and victory. It is the best written book I have come across dealing with this sad subject. We all know of somebody who has been or is still involved in a violent relationship. This book needs to get out it offers woman hope, healing and victory. The stories are honest and gut wrenching but they are true and the woman involved bring an intensity that people need to know about to help our society to break free from domestic violence. I highly recommend this book.

Breaking Invisible Chains: The Way to Freedom from Domestic Abuse is a valuable resource not only to women who read it, but also to those who want to help women break free from abusive relationships.

The format is comprehensive, offering personal stories, wise Biblical counsel, and most of all - hope.

The church at large has yet to deal with this pervasive problem and often, those in pastoral leadership are uninformed or uneducated in recognizing what constitutes abuse (physical, emotional and verbal) and how to handle it in the church. This book can be helpful to those who are willing to address the issue and may even save a life. I recommend it highly!
