In a small Pennsylvania town at the Christian campus of New Lebanon College, the culture is beginning to change drastically. A brilliant young professor, committed to her faith, arrives back on campus in the fall for the opening assembly.  She finds the president and academic dean have made some changes toward more of an academic world on campus at the expense of its spiritual life. 
Lola joins some of her colleagues in an effort to keep spirituality at the center of campus life.  The president is single minded and ignores their requests. The struggle creates an upheaval that threatens the life of the institution.
