Tell us a little about yourself. Dennis Robinson, B.T., M.B.A., Ph.D. (nutrition) has created and marketed nutrition software and services since 1984. He is married and they have parented two adopted special-needs sons (ADHD, etc.). He taught 7th-grade Math in a private school one year. He created and marketed educational Math software for grades 4-6. He is currently a substitute Instructional Assistant in Reedsport public schools. He has tutored students since August, 2023 using this approach to learning to read.

What was your motivation behind this project? The literacy in the USA has declined significantly in the last 5 years. If the complexity of words is introduced too early, students get discouraged and lose confidence in being able to learn. Building their reading vocabulary at the proper rate motivates them to learn more.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? My hope is that students will progress in proficiency to the level of peers so they can stay motivated to grow their learning.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? It is energizing to help students develop a love for learning. I have been doing this as a tutor and keep learning how to improve my effectiveness.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? The parents of the students have been my greatest source of inspiration. They recognize the importance of this mission and are concerned about the future of their children.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: Are you concerned about the progress or motivation of your student(s)? Written communication is critical to their future learning. This book provides the tools you need to rapidly increase their reading vocabulary. Using assessments (tests) and effective feedback will encourage their learning progress, build confidence and enjoyment. Their comprehension will grow when meaning is attached to words. The main thing that discourages learning is not being able to keep up with growth in word complexity. You can start with simple, small words and build on success at an appropriate rate of growth.
