GramsAge: 55-65Gender: Female3 Stars Out Of 5HopeApril 13, 2021GramsAge: 55-65Gender: FemaleQuality: 4Value: 3Meets Expectations: 3Reading Bookshop by the Sea caused me long periods of angst. The way that Sophie Lawson was treated by those close to her was disturbing to say the least. While this book was an okay read, Hunter's Bluebell Inn series was a hard act to follow. The theme of this book is dealing with abandonment. Hunter did a wonderful job of demonstrating the long-term consequences while providing hope, especially for those who discover their worth as a child of God. I am grateful to have received a complimentary copy of this book from Thomas Nelson via NetGalley without obligation. All opinions expressed here are my own.

Sarah OSouth DakotaAge: 35-44Gender: Female4 Stars Out Of 5cute love storyApril 12, 2021Sarah OSouth DakotaAge: 35-44Gender: FemaleQuality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4I thought this story was cute overall. I liked Sophie I felt like she was a fighter and was faced with so much, but I also felt her family never really got her. I liked Aiden a little bit I felt like sometimes he came off whiney and whoa is me type attitude, which became annoying. I loved the small town feel of this book, and the small town characters they were so fun. Overall this book was a fun read and the author kept the book clean so it suitable for all readers, its also completely predictable. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

DianFlowW. Columbia, SCAge: 55-65Gender: Female4 Stars Out Of 5Romantic Seaside Read!April 9, 2021DianFlowW. Columbia, SCAge: 55-65Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4Oh my, author Denise Hunter has taken all my favorite things and compiled them into one book (happy sigh!) The salty scent of the briny sea air permeated my senses--as did the odor of new books, and the sweet fragrance of romance in 'Bookshop by the Sea'. What an aromatic combination!
Sophie Lawson is such a sweet heroine and she loves books!...so what's not to like about her? I simply couldn't abide the way her family takes advantage of her giving nature, causing her to set aside her dreams. Enter hunky, Aiden Maddox, who left Sophie brokenhearted years earlier and still has plenty of issues to work out.
Hunter intertwines feelings of abandonment, fear, and lack of self worth...to create an angsty, dramatic, contemporary romance. Readers everywhere will love the small, quaint, beachside town of Piper's Cove with its amiable community!
"When you give fear a voice, it's louder than logic or reality. It overshadows everything you know to be true, and all you can hear are the lies you fear most." (Quote from Bookshop by the Sea)

Mel A4 Stars Out Of 5Second Chance RomanceApril 2, 2021Mel AQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Denise Hunter is exactly where you should turn when looking for a romance novel. This story is a second chance romance, which is one of my favorites. These two, Aiden and Sophie, have nothing if not chemistry! They were in a serious relationship until Sophie's mother is bed-ridden and Aiden is offered a partnership away from where they live. Now, seven years later, they have a second chance, but they must work through their past, and each of the obstacles that keep them apart. I really enjoyed the beach setting of this story and what book lover doesn't love a story with a bookshop in it!?! I also love it when authors include characters from previous books. This was a nice surprise in Bookshop by the Sea. If you love sweet romance stories, definitely give this book a try!

AlaskanAmyAge: 45-54Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5Another Great Hunter RomanceMarch 31, 2021AlaskanAmyAge: 45-54Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5If you are looking for a beach read for the summer, Bookshop by the Sea will be the perfect read! Denise Hunter has worked her magic once again in this novel about two broken up high school sweethearts who are brought together again for a wedding.
Sophie has given up her own dreams to care for a chronically ill mom and to meet her siblings every need. Aiden left their hometown after senior year to start a business in tandem parachuting. Sophie gets her dream of opening a bookshop in a beach town, but many sudden obstacles start happening. Luckily, Aiden is in town to help her succeed in her dream.
I enjoyed Bookshop by the Sea. It's a light romance that is Hunter's trademark, but characters and setting are amazing.
I received a complimentary copy from Thomas Nelson through Net Galley, but all opinions are my own.
