Moral education, the training of heart and mind toward the good, involves many things. It involves rules and precepts, the dos and donts of life with others, as well as explicit instruction, exhortation, and training. Moral education must provide training in good habits. Aristotle wrote that good habits formed at youth make all the difference.

William J. Bennett, author of The Book of Virtues: A Treasury of Great Moral Stories

The premise of Bennetts books is quite simple: The purpose of this book is to show parents, teachers, students, and children what the virtues look like, what they are in practice, how to recognize them, and how they work.

To provide a moral compass for the young, Bennett utilizes stories from the Bible, American history, poems, fables, Greek myths, philosophy, fiction, and fairy tales to teach the virtues of self-discipline, compassion, responsibility, friendship, work, courage, perseverance, honesty, loyalty, and faith.

The Book of Virtues: A Treasury of Great Moral Stories is a book you and your family can read and learn from together

Every human whether Christian or not should have this book and read it, and reread it. Our children were raised hearing the stories from Bennet's Children's Book of Virtues at bedtime. We purchased this copy for our youngest daughter's upcoming 16th birthday. A tool that we pray she will use and cherish for many years to come.

This book is perfect for character training of our children! I've used this book as a read-aloud, for illustrating a point, history and literature studies as well as poetry (reciting and memorization). Every home schooler should have this book and use it!

My mother used to read stories from this book to me when I was a little girl. It taught both her and I about what happens when we make bad choices and how to take responsibility for our actions. This is an excellent book for both kids and adults.
