This beautiful devotional gift book is for readers who want to start their day with a reminder of God's love and purpose for them. So often we wake up worried about our to-do lists and responsibilities and need a reminder of how God feels about us and who we are in him. Several years ago Susie began posting daily blessings on Facebook, and since then thousands have responded and forwarded the blessings along to others.
The blessings take only moments to read, but are packed with biblical promise and perspective. Along with a blessing, each day's spread also includes a related Scripture to point readers back to God's timeless truth.
katiespenGreer, SCAge: 25-34Gender: female3 Stars Out Of 5Not Very Deep DevotionalApril 16, 2015katiespenGreer, SCAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 3I was pretty disappointed when I received this book to review. I was hoping that I would be given a book to really help get my devotions going each morning, but this book is just too simple and short for that to happen.
I have read the verse for each day and done my own study surrounding the verse, but there isn't much substance to really get me thinking about the passage. In fact, my devotions through this book did not stick with me at all. I like the paragraphs that go along with the verses, but there isn't much beyond that.
To make this a more effective devotional, it would be nice to have at least some passages for further reading and study. I think this author could do more. It's a good start, but it's not enough.

LauraVHouston, TexasAge: 25-34Gender: female1 Stars Out Of 5not the best optionMarch 20, 2015LauraVHouston, TexasAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 1Value: 1Meets Expectations: 1Blessings for the Morning by Susie Larson is the latest book that I'm reviewing for Bethany Publishing House.
The book has a lovely cover and at first glance the messages are short and sweet, very much a pep talk for your soul. The serene pictures for each day can add to the emotional experience, helping women to feel encouraged, at peace, and calm.
At second glace, the book is a full of therapeutic moralistic deism. There is very little about Christ and nothing about what He has done for us. Even the day entitled "No Condemnation" which mentions Christ does not tell the reader why there is no condemnation. Christ crucified for your sins is simply nonexistent in this book. With a Bible verse on each page, one can guess that the book is Christian, but in the blessing part it never tells us why we are blessed or how we are blessed.
Christmas Eve's blessing and many others ask us to have an emotional response: to become weak in the knees, overwhelmed, and be overtaken (Abundantly Blessed pg111). This loss of self is a classic sign of mysticm.
I do not recommend this book as it is not a good book to grow one's faith but rather just another feel-good good luck charm almost in the same line as the name-it/claim-it theology.
Bethany Publishing House gave me a complimentary copy of this book to review for my honest opinion.
tmurrellTNAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Beautiful!March 17, 2015tmurrellTNAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Start each day with a blessing from God's word. Each page is set with a beautiful photograph and then encouraging words are watermarked on top. The left side of the page has a scripture that ties in with the devotional on the right side. Each devotional is designed for encouragement, peace, and inspiration.
This is a gorgeous book, from front to back. The photographs are beautiful and peaceful. Each devotion is thought provoking and powerful. I looked forward to reading one each morning. This book would make an excellent gift. The devotions touch on so many different subjects that women deal with every day. There are also a few that are for specific occasions such as Christmas.
I received this book free of charge from Bethany House in exchange for my honest review.
Victory GirlNW WashingtonAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Positively EmpoweringMarch 9, 2015Victory GirlNW WashingtonAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5"Blessings for the Morning" by Susie Larson, is not only a beautiful book, but includes short yet powerfully positive "blessings" meant to be read at the beginning of your day.
I found that even with the very first reading, I was overcome with a sense of empowerment and encouragement. I loved reading these blessings and Bible verses, and how these words left me feeling confident and optimistic about not only my day, but with my relationship with my heavenly Father. What a fabulous reminder that the Creator of the universe cares so very much for each and every one of us!
My advice? Get one for yourself and a few extra as gifts. Thank you Susie Larson and Bethany House for this book. It's one of the best "gifts" I've received in quite a while.

GiniBDallas, PAAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Blessings for the MorningMarch 9, 2015GiniBDallas, PAAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This is an absolutely lovely book---one that I would give as a gift. Every entry is placed on a stunning full color scene. The selected Biblical text is accompanied by several blessings related to it. It is as if someone were pronouncing the blessings into your life as you read them. And I found that there is generally one that is particularly apt for the day. A very simple idea presented beautifully. Just a nice, gentle way to start your day off, I think.
Yes, I would recommend this one to you if you are looking for a gift to lift a downcast spirit or even as a treat for yourself. It is an encouragement designed for women. Sorry, guys. It is available in ebook format, too.
I received this book from the publishers in return for a review.
