Famed Puritan preacher Jonathan Edwards is forever known for his sermon “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God,” though that is only one of hundreds of sermons of great merit. Michael McMullen has compiled a collection of twenty-two sermons preached by Edwards that have never before appeared in print. They are taken from a collection of Edwards papers held at the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library of Yale University and have been transcribed as a labor of love to commemorate the 300th anniversary of Edwards’ birth.
Michael McMullen is an associate professor of church history at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. As associate editor for Oxford University Press’s New Dictionary of National Biography, he has written over seven books including Hearts Aflame, Clouds of Heaven, and Unpublished Sermons of R.M.M’Cheyne. He resides in Kansas City, Missouri.

Tell us a little about yourself. I was born in Yorkshire, England in 1960. I committed my life to Christ when I was 16 and He has never let me down. I studied at the University of Aberdeen and graduated with a PhD in Church History.
What was your motivation behind this project? I wanted to bring to believers more challenges and encouragements from Jonathan Edwards' sermons. Edwards had a unique mind and I wanted to make more of his writings available to edify the Church. Broadman are doing this by keeping the price low. But my primary aim is that the God of Jonathan Edwards receives all the glory and praise.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? To read Edwards for himself and not rely solely on secondhand stories or anecdotes. God used Edwards mightily and He still will if people have access to what Jonathan Edwards said.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? Robert Murry M'Cheyne, William Chalmers Burns, Jonathan Edwards, George Whitefield, Charls Spurgeon
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: I am particularly interested in Revival preachers and how God used them to make His name known. I teach at Midwestern Baptist Seminary and my aim is to challenge students to believe God and His Word and to be willing to be used by the same God that worked in and through great men and women of God.
