Laura HiltonHorseshoe Bend, ARAge: 45-54Gender: female3 Stars Out Of 5Too Blessed to be Stressed CookbookDecember 19, 2015Laura HiltonHorseshoe Bend, ARAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 3Value: 3Meets Expectations: 3I made two recipes out of this cookbook.
The first was Best Bean Soup Ever on page 94. We added carrots, celery, and onions to the basic recipe since we love our vegetables, and did not double the recipe since it says it serves 6 - 8. We're a family of seven and I knew one son would refuse to eat it so I figured we were good. It has served the six of us three days now and we still have some left over. We give this recipe 3 stars as it is not the best bean soup ever, our preferred recipe is better. Maybe because I am not a huge fan of kidney and pinto beans.
I also made Luscious Lime Pie on page 54. My family were greatly excited to have "Key Lime Pie" for desert for a rare treat (I also made one for the church potluck) but it also got a 3 star rating from the family. My daughters thought it was too sour, my husband said it was too rich. It was good and simple to make so is a quick meal.
The cookbook is full of cute stories and jokes, the recipes are basic and simple; made with ingredients most people have on hand (You might need to pick up one or two items) and is set up for full meals if you want to use it that way. Makes it easy to plan menu rotations. It also includes a shopping list of ingredients you need for each recipe which makes it easy. For women who work outside the home, eat out more than they should because they have no time to cook, this cookbook will be a blessing, It will help them cook more at home since the food preparation in most cases take less time than sitting in a drive-through line during rush hour,

I love to read cookbookscooking not so much. But I do love to read the ingredient list, the instructions, look at and drool over the pictures and imagine the taste.
Debora Coty has written a most delightful cookbook. The titles alone bring laughter and fun. Dump Dishes: One-Stop Schlopping (Dinner in One Pan) for example. And her pals have contributed their favorite recipes: Wild & Crazy Chicken & Rice, Keep You Full Breakfast Bowl, Mighty Pleasin Potpie. Debora doesnt stop therelest we get stressed from contemplating actually cooking, she has planned Chuckle Breaks such as Martha Boltons Potato Salad Fiasco, I Wont Tell if You Wont (Otherwise Known as Debs Confession), and Lumps & All.
Interspersed with the chuckles and recipes are quotes about cooking and food and life. Tis an ill cook that cannot lick his own fingers.William Shakespeare; Seize the moment. Remember all those women on the Titanic who waved off the dessert cart.Erma Bombeck; The righteous eat to their hearts content, but the stomach of the wicked goes hungry.Proverbs 13:25 NIV; You only live oncelick the bowl!Wise Woman in Grocery Aisle.
Designed to accompany her Too Blessed to Be Stressed series of books, this Too Blessed to Be Stressed Cookbook is well laid out, has tasty recipes, and even includes menu plans and shopping lists. Debora truly has taken much of the stress out of cooking.
After reading the cookbook, I might, just might resort to cooking something from scraps myself.

Melissa LGender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5Too Blessed To Be Stressed CookbookNovember 16, 2015Melissa LGender: FemaleQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0This author is so funny! I found myself flipping to the chuckle breaks at times more than I did the actual recipes. I love her stories, her inclusions of Bible verses, and quotes. I couldnt get enough!
Her recipes are down home, family friendly recipes that I believe so many will enjoy. They are simple and quick with ingredients that are normal to most households. Not all recipes are shown with a photo but the instructions are so clearly written it is easy enough to visualize.
Debora M. Coty has given us so many wonderful recipes for comfort food in her book that there will no doubt be something that everyone will find appealing. Some recipes I found that I was intrigued because I would never have thought of the pairing but when reading the recipe made me think it was definitely worth a try.
I highly recommend this delightful cookbook that will have you chuckling as you are cooking! Comfort foods with a bit of southern charm to many will have you loving the variety.
I received this book for an honest review exchange and I can truthfully say it was a treat to read and find some new recipes to try at home, church or any occasion.
