BJU Press’ Reading 2D: Precious Treasures is the last in a series of four readers in the BJU Press Reading 2 curriculum (each reader is sold-separately). Engaging artwork changes with each story and provides visual interest for early readers. Before some selections, an easy-to-understand page introduces relevant literary elements or background information; for example, children might learn about word pictures before reading a poem. "Think as you Read" questions give students a focus to keep in mind as they read through the selection. The story is followed by a "Think and Discuss" section that features discussion questions and new vocabulary; "Look Again" sections that provide an additional activity or question are also included after some passages. Interesting and developmentally appropriate selections come from a variety of sources, including realistic and historical fiction, fables, folktales, Bible accounts, biography, drama, and poetry.
