I took a chance on this book with my 2nd grade boy and have been happy with it. This book has proved a good mid-year workbook review of phonics since we've been using a Ruth Beechick/CM style in our homeschool. We also use BJU's Bible Truths worktext and this is similar in format. My boy is reading well but slow so he can read the worksheets independently. He can get reading practice and penmanship practice along with the phonics. We probably won't use all pages or will at least do some orally but the worktext has is a complete phonics review with a Unit on suffixes/prefixes and some pages on contractions and synonyms.Be forewarned that this is a review of phonics concepts and doesn't actually teach them other than a box at top with a short rule. The concepts are there with a page of practice but the book doesn't go into tons and tons of examples. I didn't get the Answer Key but you can go to that webpage and see a sample of the first unit. We actually skipped that unit along with Unit 2 and jumped into the long vowels in Unit 3.
