Terry4 Stars Out Of 5Surprisingly good entry into a difficult subject...August 8, 2017TerryQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Douglas & Teixeira's book, The 25 Biblical Laws of Success is a surprisingly good entry into this challenging and largely un-tapped sub-genre of Christian non-fiction. (Perhaps as interesting as the subject matter of the book is the background of the authors, which I applaud the authors for generally leaving out of the text - I digress.) Perhaps the reason this subject is untapped is that it is sometimes difficult to find "biblical wisdom" to guide you through a SWOT analysis - though the authors manage to do it! However, I will share a short piece of personal knowledge I recently gained from a graduate course on Christian worldview: the Bible can and should be the basis for your worldview through which you then filter all truth claims. I am wholly convinced that there is not a single aspect of life that Scripture cannot address, business included. To that end, the authors have developed what they believe to be 25 laws that are derived from Scripture and apply to the business world. Furthermore, they contend, and mostly, I agree, that adhering to these 25 "laws" (not to be confused with the law from which we were freed!) is the best way to conduct business and find success in your career and your life. Some of these laws include things like focus, joy, resilience, honesty, gratitude, and generosity.
What I really appreciated was the brief conclusion the authors wrote: a no-holds-barred plea for the reader to stay connected to the vine and to always keep Jesus at the center of everything, including your business and career. I cannot think of better advice.
I received this book free from Baker Books through the Baker Books Bloggers Program. The opinions I have expressed are my own, and I was not required to write a positive review.

Whether just starting out or in mid-career, the book is very insightful. Around 215 pages, the title addresses such topics as:
1. Shortcuts are not always the best way to get somewhere.
2. Focus on attaining a goal is hard to do if you are unwilling to sacrifice.
3. Persistence is more important than talent.
4. Honesty is a very important asset to have in your career.
5. Be careful of the company you keep.
6. Responding to evil with love is better than revenge.
7. 3 essential qualities to have in the workplace.
8. A good leader must also be a good servant.
The book is very readable and smoothly transitions from topic to topic. In whatever stage you are in your career, "The 25 Biblical Law Of Success" will be very helpful. I was given a review copy by Baker Books in exchange for a fair review.
