The original title of this book is, "A Method For Prayer" by Matthew Henry. Henry thought this book was so important that he stopped work on his monumental commentary on the whole Bible so he could write this book and as a result never finished the commentary personally- although assistants had enough of his notes to do that. Henry thought prayer for the Christian was that important.
This updated and revised version was done by scholar Dr. O. Palmer Robertson. It is a beautiful book and a compact size but the type in the book is not small. It is well bound and printed on opaque paper.
It is not a book of prayers so much as each section of the book is simply hundreds of Bible verses that you can personally pray and make them your own prayers. "The Valley of Vision", is a book of prayers, this is a manual of Scripture designed to become prayers. There are five sections which are the basis of prayer: praise, confession, petition, thanksgiving and intercession. It also includes prayers for particular occasions, the Lord's prayer expanded and shorter forms of prayer.
Dr. Robertson said that this is the best book on prayer he is aware of and has used it almost daily for the past fifty years. He also said that apart from the Bible this is the most important book he has read in his lifetime. His old copy was handed down in his family and he needed a new copy so he edited this newer edition.
I have found some typographical errors and a book with perhaps a few thousand Bible verses in it, one is apt to find a few mistakes, but apart from that it is an outstanding book.
