I had this on an older computer and needed to repurchase for the newer one. I love all the help I get from this program. The newer one has some added features and is right now a bit more difficult for me to use, but I'm sure I just need to study the info CD's more and actually get into it!
SR71Age: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Will Never Use Anything Else!March 11, 2013SR71Age: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5When I began to study the Bible, there really were no great Bible programs in existence. Now, we have a number of great options. My own personal favorite is Bibleworks, which I have been using for over ten years and have found it indispensable to serious study. Here are my favorite things to do with Bibleworks:
ââ¬Â¢ Word searches - Bibleworks functions as a concordance making searching for terms in scripture a breeze. You can search the entire Bible or limit your search to a book or to just the old or new testament. You can search in any version you prefer and you can also search in Hebrew or Greek (and other languages like Spanish and French). You can even search for whole phrases, such as "in Christ." This alone makes this a better choice than a hardback concordance.
ââ¬Â¢ Cross referencing - It is really easy to find other bible passages that relate to the one you are studying with Biblework's cross-referencing feature. It lists verse that are commonly seen to relate to the specific verse you are studying, allowing you to make scriptural comparisons to help with interpretation.
ââ¬Â¢ Word studies in dictionaries and lexicons - Bibleworks comes loaded with several word study tools, including expository dictionaries and lexicons. You can also buy extra modules to load onto it as well (including the five volume dictionary sets I mentioned above). Not only does this save you valuable shelf space, but time as well as searching is much quicker. You can see the range of meaning for Greek and Hebrew words and more extensive discussions on those words.
ââ¬Â¢ Vocabulary study - Bibleworks has a great feature in which you can learn and review Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic words. If you have studied biblical languages, you know how easy it is for vocabulary to slip. This feature keeps Hebrew and Greek sharp and allows you to acquire a broader range of vocabulary in the languages.
ââ¬Â¢ Speaking and teaching notes - You can easily cut and paste the Hebrew and Greek text into Word documents to have a nice clean copy for translation or taking notes on. This allows you to keep the Greek text and notes in the same document which is so helpful for teaching or preaching preparation. You are also able to easily transfer other things to Word documents, including lexical entries and lists of occurrences of words which is great for preparing handouts for teaching Sunday school or Bible classes.
These things are only the tip of the iceberg for all Bibleworks can do. If you have an older version of Bibleworks, consider upgrading to the new version, which has even more tricks and gadgets for bible study including the ability to have several tabs open for studying multiple passages, the full Moody atlas of the Bible, new statistics features, and many more perks. One of my favorite things about the new version is the fact that it consistently checks for updates and you can apply them immediately so you never have to wonder if your program is up to date. Bibleworks has been with me for so long and I hope to use it for many years to come!

The new features are some of my favorite features. They include:
ââ¬Â¢ The Manuscript Project
ââ¬Â¢ The CNTTS Apparatus
ââ¬Â¢ The ESV Study Bible
ââ¬Â¢ Four columns
ââ¬Â¢ Difference highlighting
BibleWorks has always been a great enhancement to my Bible study. I didn't really know how they could make it better because it already has amazing Greek and Hebrew word study tools. It already has the ability to build your own notebook. It already has the tools you need to write your sermons and class lessons. It already has commentaries, dictionaries, lexicons, grammars, etc. But, they went ahead and made it better anyway- and I'm very satisfied with the results.
One way they've made it better is by adding scans of the Greek manuscripts (I'm hoping for the Dead Sea Scrolls as an expansion- hint, hint). The manuscripts are tagged with chapter and verse numbers, so you will know what verse you're looking at. The images can be adjusted using controls for brightness and sharping, etc. This allows you to look as close at the manuscripts as you want without ever touching them. There's also a transliteration of each manuscript so you can read and copy them into your notes. You can even compare the manuscripts and highlight the differences. I really like this feature because looking at the Greek manuscripts is something that most of us will never get to do.
They've added some serious notes with the ESV Study Bible. The notes in the ESV Study Bible are some of the most useful available. Of course I don't agree with everything in them, but there's a lot I do agree with and there's a lot to like in those notes. They're like a small college course in Biblical studies. It costs $20 to unlock, but don't even hesitate- it's so worth it that I wouldn't even consider not getting it. The maps and images in the ESV Study Bible are in high resolution and can be copied into your notes.
The program itself seems smoother than the last version. BibleWorks 9 starts up and shuts down much quicker. BibleWorks 8 (and before) would do a little bit of house-cleaning before it could shut down.
There are six hours of training videos included. I highly recommend going through the videos to get the most out of BibleWorks 9. There are so many things that BibleWorks 9 will do that I never would have figured it all out without the videos.
The fourth column in the Analysis Window provides a lot more functionality in your study. Not only can you can view two different analysis tools at once, you get some better search features by being able to view the Analysis and Use Tabs at same time. I will be using the fourth column quite a bit.
BibleWorks 9 is so vast that I'm still just getting into what it can do. In my next review I'll cover some more of my favorite features in detail.
I can easily recommend BibleWorks 9. It is by far the best BibleWorks yet and provides features you can't get anywhere in any other program. If you want to really get deeper into God's Word, BibleWorks 9 is a must-have tool.
BibleWorks provided this software free for review. I was not required to give a positive review- only an honest review.
