Author/Artist Review

Tell us a little about yourself.  After becoming a Christian in college through the ministry of the Navigators in the late 1970's, I went on to minister among the Chinese community in the Boston area while working as an engineer. In 1996 I developed The Boston Chinese Bible Study Resources web site as a service to the Boston Chinese Bible Study Group. In 1999 this developed into the Boston Christian Bible Study Resources (www.bcbsr.com), which along with the translation help from my friend Lin San, has become a worldwide ministry visited by hundreds of thousands. I presently work as an engineer at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Cambridge Massachusetts.

What was your motivation behind this project?  In my opinion the vast majority of teaching materials available and techniques utilized in the Evangelical community today speak mostly to those of a left-brain analytic mindset, of which I myself am no doubt a member. But all kinds of people are to be invited to the feast. How to invite someone of an artistic intuitive nature to feast on the Word? This book is an attempt to minister to one's artistic and intuitive nature while attempting to keep to the accuracy and depth of the Word of God and the meaning of the Christian experience.

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  I hope they find "Bible Rap" to be a useful resource for their own Bible study or for youth ministry or as a gift to get friends and family into the Bible

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  Those who've had the greatest influence on me are not authors or public figures, but ordinary Christian men who have taken time to disciple me. Bradlee Sargent, who is involved in ministry to Muslims; Mike Coates who gave me a vision for the Chinese; Mike Fair who trained me in personal discipleship; Tom Eynon, a gifted teacher; and a few others. I guess my favorite author would be Francis Schaeffer.

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  The Bible rap contained in "Bible Rap" is supplemental to the Bible study guides I've written for The Boston Christian Bible Study Resources site (www.bcbsr.com)
