ALEX MCFARLAND is an evangelist, author, and advocate for Christian apologetics. Cohost of Exploring the Word with Bert Harper (heard nationally on the American Family Radio Network), Alex is the founder and president of the national apologetic conference Truth for a New Generation. He has served as president of Southern Evangelical Seminary and director of Teen Apologetics for Focus on the Family under James Dobson. He has served as adjunct professor at several Christian universities, assisting with the creation of programs and departments dedicated to apologetics and the defense of the Christian worldview. Alex is the author of many books, including the best-selling 10 Most Common Objections to Christianity. He is a graduate of Liberty University. Alex and his wife, Angela, live in North Carolina.
BERT HARPER is the director of Marriage, Family, and Pastoral Ministries at the American Family Association. He has served as cohost of Exploring the Word with Alex McFarland for more than a decade and is heard on an average of two hundred stations nationwide each weekday. As a pastor of local churches, Bert has nearly four decades of experience counseling couples. He has faithfully served on the board of the American Family Association and Blue Mountain College, and he has fulfilled many other leadership roles on behalf of churches and Christian organizations. Together, he and his wife, Jan, lead marriage conferences and retreats for ministers and their wives. The Harpers have three grown sons and are the proud grandparents of a growing family.
