Adding a short commentary at the end of each one to encourage and uplift parents and/or individuals, I found myself entranced by the accuracy of her words.
As a grieving parent of a child who had special needs and was taken home to glory in 2012, for 28 years I experienced every emotion I can think of, from fear to guilt to joy to grief. I am always curious when I see a book like this since I do not remember there being anything resembling it when my daughter, Amy, was born. Little did I realize when I began reading Bible Promises for Parents of Children with Special Needs, it would become a stepping stone in my own healing process. I do not think at the time I was raising my daughter that I could even identify some of the things I felt but I sure recognized them as I read through this book. I can even identify a few of them in present day circumstances with a child of mine that is not special needs, so I would say this little gem can be used by anyone.
You can tuck it right into your purse or tote bag and it will be handy for any time of day, especially when you are sitting for long hours in a medical clinic or hospital bedside. It would also make a great gift for someone you know who is walking this long and sometimes lonely road, and it has an encouraging post for that emotion as well.
I appreciate Tyndale House Publishers sending me a copy for review purposes. No compensation has been received.

As a mom who has a daughter with a syndrome that will affect the rest of her life, I appreciate being able to flip through by topic and find Scriptural answers to exactly what I am feeling. Everything from finances to accepting the diagnosis to dealing with the loneliness of being a mom with a child who isn't quite "normal" is addressed in this small purse-sized book.
It answers the hard questions of raising a special needs child with grace, mercy, and God's Word. It is exactly what every mom walking this road needs in her arsenal of encouragement.
(I received this book from Tyndale in exchange for my honest review.)
Deuce SkunksSpringfield, MOAge: 25-34Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5Not Just Another "Bible Promises" BookMay 22, 2017Deuce SkunksSpringfield, MOAge: 25-34Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Bible Promises for Parents of Children with Special Needs by Amy E. Mason has a lot in common with other Scripture books. You look up a topic and find Bible versesto help you deal with whatever it is that you're dealing with. However, Amy has taken a very traditional concept and given it a couple extra twists.
First, it's geared for parents with special needs kids, meaning that theissues are ones that we commonly face (even if we seldom talk about them). Second, while similar books would have a heading for "goals", Amy branches this topic into three separate issues: 1) When you need perspective on your ultimate goals, 2) When you wonder if your child will meet the goals you're working toward, and 3) When you wonder what kind of goals to set... Each of these issues has a couple of Bible verses to bring you wisdom and comfort, and there's also a summary paragraph at the end of the topic that kind of wraps up all of the issues and helps guide you in the right direction.
Other issues that reveal Amy's careful planning in creating this book are things like "When you wonder if your child will have a relationship with God" (Knowing God), "When your family members keep their distance" (Rejection), and "When you wonder if your child's special needs are somehow your fault" (Diagnosis).
While this book is very handy to look up a specific issue during a moment of weakness or self-doubt, I also found it refreshing to flip through and randomly read questions, revealing issues I hadn't even realized were things that weighed heavy on my heart. I also really appreciate that this book is small enough to fit into a purse and take with me so that I can refer to itthroughout my day. 5/5 stars.

Mason, is a wonderful book. It is a topical guide to Gods promises. It is designed to help those caring for children with special needs to find hope and comfort in Gods promises and stories in the Bible.
The topics selected in this book were selected to speak to the uniqueness of special needs parenting, including both the joys and the struggles. They are designed to encourage such parents and guide them into the presence of Jesus. The topics, arranged in alphabetical order, are all comprised of Bible verses and a short devotion. Some of the topics included are: abandonment, anger, attitude, bitterness, embarrassment, caring, eternity, guilt, loneliness, obedience, and shame.
This is a marvelous book. Each topic is short and easy to locate, including not just one, but several Bible verses. It is designed to help parents be assured of his constant grace and love for both you and your child. Because the author is the mother of a child with special needs, her understanding of the challenges are evident in this book.
I would recommend this book to anyone who has or works with a child with special needs.
I received this book free from the publisher and was not required to write a positive review.
