I had the opportunity recently to look through the Bible overview pamphlet by rose publishing. It is a great resource. I am preparing to teach a class called "Christ Through the Scriptures" and plan to show showing Jesus is throughout the entire Bible. In this class I am going to give a brief overview of every book in the Bible and breakdown the central theme. The Bible Overview pamphlet is a good snapshot of the entire Bible and its key themes. It even has a key verse picked out for each book. This will benefit my teaching preparation immensely. The purpose of the pamphlet is to give an summary of the Bible and I believe that it accomplishes that 100%. I received this as an advanced reader copy and will likely purchase the ability to utilize the slides in the classroom. It is good for teachers or anybody wanting to get an aerial view of the Bible. It's weaknesses that it does not go very deep... But that is the purpose of an overview. The thing I like most about the product is that it does not waste time. This is one of the best overviews I have come across, especially in pamphlet form.
First and foremost, I love this pamphlet. It is simple, clear and to the point. Whether I was intending on reading it word for word or just skimming and looking at a book of the bible I found it easy and fun to read. Bible Overview was very enjoyable to read as it was packed full of fun and educational tidbits of information that I found very helpful. There were just enough facts to aid in quick understanding but not too much to bog me down or overwhelm me. I felt this pamphlet could be an immense benefit to anyone, if they have at least a medium reading and comprehension level. A great point that I feel needs to be mentioned, is that their choice of and way it is written, was done so that it is beneficial to a vast array of people ranging from a Biblical beginner to a scholar. By color coding each section, Pentateuch, Minor Prophets, Gospel/Acts, etc., this pamphlet worked on several areas of my understanding and comprehension process from what I read to what I saw, so my retention will be greater. I feel by this being done this way it will cater to more people as everyone learns in their own unique way. Each Book section lists a who, what, where, when description, a general topical outline, and it lists a key verse so I could very quickly know exactly what was going on with that book of the Bible. My only questioning area is as to why the How to use this section was not at the beginning but instead located between the Old and New Testaments. But overall this pamphlet is something that will be a great add to ones personal library. Thank you Rose Publishing for allowing me the opportunity to give my honest opinion of this pamphlet in exchange for a free copy of it to add to my personal library.
This BIBLE OVERVIEW delivers exactly what it says it is: Themes, Facts, and Key Verses at a Glance.
It is easy to read, colorful, and perfect for any biblical student. Of course, there is always some dispute about who, what, when, where and how, but the editors have done an excellent job of incorporating the traditional basic facts. This is an excellent overview and will be the perfect tool for teachers, as well as students, who are learning about the design and layout of the Bible. Especially interesting is the addition of a Key Verse for each Bible book. There is also a Chapter Outline of each book, which is most helpful for the novice and the experienced reader of the Bible. As a Bible teacher, this is a pamphlet I would want every student of mine to have and refer to often. It is an also invaluable as a tool for the novice to understand the design and layout of the Scriptures as a whole.
From this reviewer's perspective. It is unlike anything else now available in the marketplace. Highly recommended.
Just an FYI: I did receive a free copy of the product in exchange for an honest review and feedback. However, I have never been disappointed in any ROSE Publishing product that I have purchased in the past.
When it comes to simplicity and readability Rose Publishing did a wonderful job on their Bible Overview Pamphlet. Even though similar material is found in study Bibles and other printed materials today the color, layout, and structure of this pamphlet makes for a quick and easy reference that is superior to its rivals. Finding a comprehensive tool that answers the essential questions (who, what, where, when and why) is incredibly unique.
Each category comes with a paragraph giving a general overview of the books in that particular collection. These paragraphs are theologically weak and devotional in nature. For example, the Pentateuch is referred to as a collection of stories, while a portion of the Poetical books are referred to as drama. That being said, these summaries are a small part of what the publisher set out to accomplish and they do not take away from the book summaries.
Even someone who has been a Christian for several years struggles with knowing what they are reading in their Bibles and the historical background. It is very easy to get timelines turned around while reading. That is what makes this pamphlet a valuable resource for all students of Gods Word. I highly recommend keeping this pamphlet either in your Bible or close to it at all times to ensure you know the historical background of the passage you are reading whether on your own or listening to your favorite speaker. Thanks to Rose Publishing giving me a free copy in exchange for this review, I will be doing the same.
The description of "Bible Overview" by Rose Publishing says it "provides an excellent summary of every book of the Bible." It delivers on that promise. If you need a simple, easy to carry, and easy to understand overview of the entire Bible, this fold-out pamphlet will be most helpful. I received a free email copy of this pamphlet for an honest review. The compact nature of the information allows it to be carried in your Bible or notebook. The laminated surface keeps it in good condition.
The books are divided into the Old and New Testaments and then into the basic categories of each. While the divisions may not be the ones you learned, they are workable in a Bible study format. Each division explains what is covered in that area and its characteristics.
Each book has a brief description - a 2" x 4" box or less - which includes: Who, What, Where, When, and Why. You may want more, but that can be done in further studies.
I plan to use this as the basis for a Bible study I am developing for use on the web. The pamphlet will be the basic syllabus with the Bible as the textbook. The pamphlet gives new Bible students a basic knowledge without overwhelming them. For those who have studied the Bible in detail, it would be an excellent review.
"Bible Overview" gives an excellent, tantalizing taste of Bible knowledge. It's not the complete meal, but as an appetizer it will whet the appetite for a more complete Bible study.
