I love this Bible. I originally picked up a free copy of the Illustrated Bible New Testament from a rack in a local pet food store and found it a delight to read (I do not understand why CBD doesn't carry this edition of the NIrV NT). I understand that many people shy away from this translation because it is designed for young readers. The same could be said of the New Century Version (am even more literal and underrated translation using basic vocabulary). They shouldn't. A translation using a simpler vocabulary makes many of the events and ideas discussed in the Bible easier to understand. I liken it to reading John MacArthur as opposed to John Owen. While both hold to many of the same beliefs, MacArthur is able to state the ideas with modern imagery and vocabulary, making for quicker comprehension. Don't give up your KJV, NKJV, ESV, NASB, NLT, GW, etc. by any means. This is not a replacement for one's old standbys, but don't exclude this excellent simplified translation either. It is a joy to read.

The book itself has a large, easily read typeface. I love that the OT quotations in the NT are in parenthesis immediately after the quotation (Only the NKJV Readers Reference Bible by Holman does a better job of drawing attention to parallel passages from different books of the Bible). This is not a "fancy" book. It is essentially a book in imitation leather binding. It has no ribbon marker and no gilt edging. The dimensions of the book are fairly compact for carrying around. It is a good place to begin reading scripture for young readers and new Christians.

My 12 year old has dyslexia. This is a wonderful, large print, easy to read Bible that he is able to read. It was recommended to me by a lady at Worldview Academy. I am so grateful. The best reason to learn to read is to be able to see for yourself what God's word says and not have to rely on someone else to tell you. Man makes mistakes. The word of God is true.

The NIrV is perfect for people which primary language isn't English. The language it uses is simple and clear. I recommend this Bible to anyone who does not speak fluent English...you will understand this Bible. God bless you
