As I write this review, CBD is selling this Bible for $22.99 - 74% off retail. This is a good Bible to consider if you are looking for a nice copy of the KJV. I would consider it a bargain even if it didn't have the excepts from A.W. Tozer's writings, but those are a nice bonus.
The leather cover seems OK. It feels thicker than most I have encountered, but that may be due to the heavy paper that makes up the inside covers.
The pages appear to be sewn together rather than glued.
This Bible has both cross references and variant readings, but by using superscripts only to point to the variant readings, the text is kept uncluttered and easier to read. The cross references are listed on the outside margins, and are grouped by verse. The variant readings (literal or alternate translations) are located at the bottom of the page.
This is a "red letter edition," but the red letters are more of a brownish-red instead of bright red. I find this to be a little easier on the eyes.
This edition retains most of the older spellings in the text: Joseph wore a "coat of many colours," Joseph (husband of Mary) was "not willing to make her a publick example," and Paul did not use a "cloke of covetousness" among the Thessalonians. "Ensamples" is even left in 1 Corinthians 10:11, 1 Thessalonians 1:7 and 1 Peter 5:3.
Very Nice for the $$. Mr. Tozer's insights serve to encourage all Christians of any age. One thought of his stood out to me. As dedicated as we were to serving our own Pre-Christian search for pleasure. We are to be as dedicated to our Spiritual life in Christ, who in we find TRUE pleasure in life.
I just received this Bible today. I have the hard cover also, but did not want to pass up this outstanding value from Christianbooks.com. The imitation leather is soft, and very flexible. The binding is tight and looks like it should hold up well. The print is easy to read, and the notes from A W Tozer are great. I highly recommend a copy of this wonderful study Bible for your study of GODS' wonderful WORD.
