Publisher's Description

Stepbrothers. Strong, handsome, and falling in love with the same woman.

The Tennessee frontier had brought together Hawk and Elizabeth Spencer in the harshest of times. As they struggle to survive and raise their family at the Watauga settlement, Hawk brings his son, Jacob, to live with them. But Jacob has only known the life of the city and resents his father for leaving him behind in the past. That bitter resentment only intensifies when Jacob discovers the strong bond that's already formed between his stepbrother Andrew and Hawk.

Things are complicated when the stepbrothers both begin to fall in love with Abigail Stevens. While she enjoys the attention of both young men for a time, she knows she must ultimately choose between the two. Will her decision drive the family even further apart?

And can Hawk stop a vengeful plot from turning the frontier into a war with the Cherokee?

Author Bio

Aaron McCarver teaches drama and Christian literature at Wesley College in Florence, Mississippi. His deep interest in Christian fiction and broad knowledge of the Christian market have given him the background for editorial consultation with all the "writing Morrises" as well as other novelists. It was through his editorial relationship with Gilbert Morris that The Spirit of Appalachia series came to life. Gilbert Morris spent ten years as a pastor before becoming Professor of English at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas. He earned a Ph.D. at the University of Arkansas, and did postgraduate work at the University of London. His publishing credits include some two dozen scholarly articles, 200 poems, and more than 200 novels, including series such as House of Winslow, Lions of Judah, and Cheney Duvall, M.D. (coauthored with his daughter, Lynn Morris). Dr. Morris passed away in February 2016.
