Tackle the other half of test prep with one of the only books on mindfulness and test prep, from an author who is an expert in both.
When preparing for a standardized test, content and strategy are just the tip of the iceberg, but they are all most students study. There is an entire world of thoughts and emotions, or "passengers," that affect student performance. Beyond the Content teaches students how to use mindfulness to identify and cope with the personal "passengers" that aren't addressed academically..
Mindfulness is practiced in businesses, colleges, professional sports to optimize performance, but is long overdue in test prep. No matter what test you're taking, the expert advice in Beyond the Content can help students shift their test-taking mindset from "I'm worried" to "I'm confident." 120 pages, softcover.

Mindfulness is widely embraced in the business and athletic communities as a valuable technique to optimize performance. Author Logan Thompson, an expert in both test prep and mindfulness, says that it's about time the test prep community embraces it as well. He says that most test prep books and classes are missing the mark by only focusing on strategy and content, and describes his book Beyond the Content as an essential guide to what he calls "the other half of test prep."
In the book, Thompson explains, "The other half of test prep is the world of fleeting thoughts and emotions, always flickering, always murmuring inside your head, usually going unnoticed and unremarked upon. They shape our perceptions and perspectives. And, they dictate our performance on tests. The other half of test prep is happening all the time, whether we like it or not. Your mental and emotional state, your surfacing memories, your underlying beliefs are always there. The good news is that, by acknowledging the other half of test prep, exploring it, and working with it, you can gain access to your full potential."
He has 99th-percentile scores on the SAT, GMAT, and GRE, and teaches all three.
He already holds an MBA from Vanderbilt University and currently attends Harvard Universitys Graduate School of Education, studying Human Development and Psychology.
Between graduate schools, Logan spent over two years living and practicing mindfulness at Insight Meditation Society in Barre, MA. He has studied mindfulness for over 10 years, and has taught mindfulness to teenagers, prisoners, business executives, athletes, and students.
