I purchased this for my 8th grade son to use in our first year of homeschooling. He has a great mathematical/science brain, but does not enjoy writing. He is beginning to enjoy reading more than he has in the past, but he's definitely not a bookworm. This curriculum has exposed him to literary terms that he will need to know in high school. It has also taught him how to write different kinds of book reports. We are even using the concepts he learned with the journalism lessons to do a history report. He gets to choose a Revolutionary War event or person to write a newspaper article. The overview video on this page gives you a good idea of how the video lessons look and sound like.
