This book was amazing. Clarissa has such an engaging writing style....you can't put this down. Clarissa shows how grief and Joy can live together in your heart as you walk through life. Grief changes you. You learn to love more, and understand how to help the person next to you through a hard time. Clarissa gives practical ways to understand the ups and downs during a period of loss, and how to flourish in the wake. She bases all she writes on Scriptural Truths. This book is for everyone. For at some time in our lives we will have loss and need to know more about why and how to grieve in a way that brings us to flourishing once more. This book will not disappoint you in any way.

This book has been such a comfort to me. It helped me not to feel (crazy) going through all the ups and downs of profound loss. These kinds of insights and encouragement can only be given from someone who has walked through deep pain and grief and is willing to relive it all and use it to encourage others. I am deeply grateful for the author sharing her brokenness.

Instead of treating grief as a thing to be dreaded or avoided, when faced with the tragic loss of her husband, Clarissa befriends grief as her companion. And she invites us to do the same. Her warm and honest way of writing welcomed me into this practical, emotional and spiritual journey through grief. She truly served as a gentle guide, encouraging me to make room for grief and ultimately to allow Jesus to become my companion in suffering and hope. As a Christian, she challenges the church to embrace grief and lament for the very real part they play in the life of the believer. As a mother of four, she writes about the unique needs of children and their journey with grief as well. Throughout the book, Clarissa writes honestly about pain with an undergirding of joyful hope. I highly recommend this book and audiobook to both those who are experiencing grief and loss as well as to those who may walk alongside them.

I've read a number of books on grief and this is one of the best. Clarissa's eloquent words and personal story take you by the hand and lead you down a trail of enlightenment on the path of grief. Her writing is effective and efficient, painting pictures and tugging at your heart with each page. (I highly recommend the audio book - her voice reveals the deep sorrow and longing for anyone dealing with grief feels.)

Her guidance extends beyond just practical notions like self-cafe; she speaks to spiritual and emotional growth that are possible while also recognizing the uncertainty and pain of grief. Her playbook for churches to become more "grief aware" is worth further exploration.

I suspect this book will resonate more with those who've been on their grief journey for a least a few months. You have perspective and can identify with the experiences and emotions Clarissa so keenly describes.

Whether you are a few months or a few years into your grief journey, you will find great hope and comfort in Clarissa's word. ***** - Highly recommended

Clarissa Moll has written a book that explains so clearly many of the aspects of walking in grief. As I read the book, I nodded my head to agree with her wise words, laughed and also sobbed as the concepts reflected what I have personally encountered in grief.

I am also so blessed by her intention to continually direct us to Jesus as the true source of our comfort in all hard things that cause us to grieve.

    You will be as well.
