mom of 92 Stars Out Of 5Feel good movie - but not realisticSeptember 15, 2016mom of 9Quality: 4Value: 2Meets Expectations: 2While this is a feel-good movie, it is not true to life. Of the adoptive families that we know (and we know a lot of them), none have had such a quick success story. That is especially true when the child was adopted past the age of 6. Our daughter was adopted at 7, and she is still not attached to anyone. Our children felt that the issues presented in this movie are peanuts compared to what we have lived with on a daily basis for over 6 years. Our children laughed when Evans unrolled toilet paper on the floor. Try living with the stuff the toilet paper is for being smeared all over the carpet on a daily basis! We are not trying to rain on anyone's happy movie parade, but anyone who thinks that this is a realistic time frame for an older adoption to go well needs to know that this just isn't what the majority of families experience. We also did not appreciate that Jennifer lied to her parents to cover up Evans' bad behavior. If Aaron and Stacy are as understanding and reasonable as they are portrayed, then Jennifer should have been able to truthfully explain what happened. That sends a bad message. The harsh truth about adoption is that despite every effort made by families, there are some children that will never choose to forgive those who have wronged them in their past. It is not just a question of the family being patient and loving. It is not uncommon for an older adopted child to create such chaos in a home that the health of the parents, the marriage, and the other children suffer. Just as we all have to choose to accept or reject Christ, so too must adopted children. And some simply won't choose Christ.

I enjoyed the different dynamics that came out and the display of testing to the relationships.

Ruth C.5 Stars Out Of 5Excellent message.November 11, 2012Ruth C.Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I love this film. Some words in the song that plays on this video say, "Who will love me for me; Not for what I have done or what I will become..." Looking past intense negative behavior and loving the person is what melts the walls and brings healing to the mind, emotions and spirit of a human being. This video portrays this reality.
