Steven Curtis Chapman has been topping the music charts for decades with songs that reflect his personal journey and share his faith in Christ. Now for the first time in Between Heaven & the Real World, Steven shares fascinating details from his life, from his childhood growing up in Paducah, KY and his introduction to music, to his incredible successes as a Dove and Grammy-award-winning musician.
Readers will also get an intimate glimpse into Chapman's personal life and marriage to Mary Beth--their courtship and first years together, and raising a growing family through birth and adoption. Not shying away from the challenges, Steven also shares from his and his family's grief after the accidental death of their 5-year-old daughter Maria. At this lowest of lows, Steven wondered if he'd ever be able to sing again, but even in the midst of struggle he chose and chooses to have hope, trusting that God will someday make things right. Readers will be challenged and inspired by this powerful testimony of a life lived with faith.

Ramona Wulff4 Stars Out Of 5Great bookSeptember 25, 2017Ramona WulffQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4While I realize that this book is a bit intimate, maybe it's too intimate. I'm not sure if celebrities should put all of their lives into a book. This book could have been shorter with less detail and the reader would have gotten the idea just as easily. No one is perfect, and many "fans" easily put celebrities on a pedestal. This book will remove Steven Curtis Chapman from any pedestal that may have been established for him and his family.

rkfall5 Stars Out Of 5A GREAT read!July 1, 2017rkfallQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I just love biographies and autobiographies and this one is of SCC's life and he does such a great job writing it. It feels like you're sitting down across the table from him as you're reading it. It's very personal and his heart is shared, the good things, the bad things and all the in-between things. The struggles are real and felt as you're reading along. He seems real, transparent and raw. I kept thinking, this has got to be hard to share with every single person that reads this book. Just to put yourself out there is SO brave and obedient and the reason is all for the glory of the Father! There would be no other reason to accomplish it. And such the glory the Father receives when we share our stories with others. How the Father has so faithfully moved in our lives. Drawing us to Himself and giving us purpose and meaning beyond ourselves, to give us love for others and compassion on the lost, orphaned world around us. I love the quote, "I love it when my whole family is together." Amen, and me too! Pick up your copy of this book, sit back and enter into the setting of this beloved child of God.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Char5 Stars Out Of 5Between Heaven and the Real WorldJune 24, 2017CharQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 0A good honest book that kept me reading right on through. Life is not all wrapped up in pretty answers but real struggles and we need to hear about them. We too have young children who have gone on Home before us, and have chosen to trust God in and through it, and beyond to other challenges to our faith. Thank you to Steven and Mary Beth for being willing to be real with your story. I pray for continued hope and joy as you hang tough in this journey for you and all your family.
KavRCanadaGender: female5 Stars Out Of 5InspiringApril 27, 2017KavRCanadaGender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I don't read a lot of non-fiction but this is one I wouldn't have wanted to miss. So grateful I moved out of my comfort zone and picked up Steven Curtis Chapman's biography. And once I started reading I couldn't stop. Amazing. Moving. Inspiring. I ran through a gamut of emotions as I worked my way through the pages of Between Heaven and the Real World : My Story.
Chapman bears a powerful testimony as he candidly shares the experiences that shaped his life, his music and his faith. His brutal honesty really touched me. He offers encouragement and hope in the midst of darkness and pain.
One of the many amazing things about our God is how He can take even the broken parts of our stories and bring about something beautiful as we trust Him with them. (p 30)
The kind of book that has the power to make a profound impact on readers. A definite must read for fans of this Christian music icon.
