Better Together explores the notion that women are not designed to mother alone. We are designed to mother in relationship with other women who understand what a mom's life is like. We're also designed to mother in relationship with the God who created us. This book encourages every mother to find her mothering community, a place where she can both give and receive support in the many forms moms need. Beyond encouraging moms to be in community, Better Together teaches how to build a tribe and what to do together once you have one.

Dawn4 Stars Out Of 5A great read for any mom looking to gain and grow meaningful friendshipsMarch 31, 2016DawnQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4I found this book to be encouraging and inspiring. As a busy mom, (aren't we all) I often find myself feeling like I don't have the time and energy to really invest in my friendships the way I would like. This book gave practical advice on making, cultivating and growing friendships. Some of the ideas in the book were new to me, while some were a great reminder of things I already knew. This book is a worthwhile read for any mom who wants to gain and grow friendships.
rkestes075 Stars Out Of 5Speaks directly to your heartMarch 30, 2016rkestes07Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I truly enjoyed reading this book cover to cover. Inherently, we know that many things are better when you have someone to do them with. "Momming" is no exception to that rule, but many of us struggle with sharing our hearts with others, letting others see our struggles, and quite frankly, simply stepping out of our comfort zone to make new friends. As a full-time working mom of two, I struggle finding the time to invest in friendships. This book was encouraging in so many ways. It offers practical and spiritual advice on developing friendships (both old and new), how to build on them, and how to sustain them. One of the things I loved the most was the examples in the book -- real moms with real problems -- everything was so very relatable. Both Jill and Anne do a wonderful job of speaking directly to your heart.

If the answer is yes, this book is for you. Jill & Anne share heartfelt stories of why mommy friendships are so important. I loved that the book was not only encouraging but gave you real suggestions of how to make friends. If found the Mothering Personality Inventory extremely helpful. Not only for me to figure out why I act the way I do but also why my friends act the way they do. It is a great tool to see how your friends needs match up to your own needs. Each chapter ends with a challenge for you to complete. I love that it doesn't just give you suggestions on how to make and be a better friend but gives you a real life example you could do today. She also gave examples of different kinds of friendships. I have always heard the expression, friend for a season, a reason or life. Jill really expounds upon this saying. It was encouraging to know that not all friends will be my BFF and that's ok. We are truly not meant to do this alone. Sharing our struggles and triumphs in parenting with real people and finding your tribe can be hard but it is so worth it! I highly recommend this book to all moms regardless of what season of life you are in.
