"All over the world the family is in deep trouble. It is just as much a reality in countries like Argentina and China as it is in the United States and Great Britain. For today's modern Christian father, it is becoming even more challenging to lead and protect your family. And sadly, some have even given up.
Be A Better Dad Today is an encouraging book. In simple, yet powerful terms, it shows each of us men how to be the best fathers, the best husbands...indeed the best men we can be - all in light of our relationship with our Heavenly Father. We all need that kind of encouragement, strength, and wisdom...today and every day of our lives."
Luis Palau, world evangelist
"As a former college and NFL Quarterback, I've had the privilege of playing with some great teams. But as a father, there is no team more important to me than my family. And that's why this book is so important.
Be A Better Dad Today! can help every dad become an All-Pro Father. The book's Ten Tools of Fatherhood are exactly what we need as dads to sharpen and expand our fatherhood skills. And Gregory gets it exactly right when he says that no matter what else we do as men, fatherhood is our most important job.
I highly recommend this book to every man who wants to be a better dad, a better husband, and a better man."
Danny Wuerffel, Executive Director of Desire Street Ministries

"As the Team Pastor for the Houston Texans, a happily married husband for 30 years and the proud father of three adult children, I understand that solid communication is essential to developing a winning team. Just as a team looks to the quarterback for leadership and guidance, our families look to dads to valiantly lead and guide them through the obstacle courses of life.
Be A Better Dad Today will help every dad become a better team mate, a better husband, a better father and a better man! Just like all-pro athletes, all-pro fathers are made, not born. Read this book and start training today!"

"The Catholic Church has emphasized the importance of fatherhood and families for 2,000 years. Good fathers are the servant leaders of their families - and we can all learn to be better servant leaders. It is no accident that Jesus taught us to pray to "our Father, who art in heaven..." It is God's love and care for us as our heavenly Father that Christ Himself modeled for us all here on earth.
In challenging and encouraging us to be the best men we can be, my friend Gregory Slayton does us a true service. For it is in service to our families, to our friends and to our communities that we grow to be stronger and more mature men. Be a Better Dad Today: Ten Tools Every Father Needs
is an excellent book for every man who wants to be a better husband, a better father and a better man."

"As a major college football coach, I know the importance of team leadership. Just like a good quarterback leads his offense to success, a good father leads his family to a successful future. Be a Better Dad Today: Ten Tools Every Father Needs is a playbook for fathers who want to be the very best they can be. Professor Slayton (who has studied fatherhood on five continents and is a father of four himself) lays out the basic Fatherhood Tool Set that all great dads need. And he provides the encouragement, the support and the coaching that we all need to be the very best fathers, husbands and men we can be.

"In considering Gregory a close personal friend for more than 30 years, and closely watching his fatherhood skills for the last 20 years, I can attest to his sacrificial commitment, energy and vision to be the best dad possible in the midst of many career, family and personal challenges. As the father of three sons myself, and active in leading men's ministry programs for many years, I have not read a finer or more practical guide regarding the essentials of being a great dad than this book. I wholeheartedly recommend Be a Better Dad Today to every father and father to be as a way to help you fulfill the high calling and irreplaceable role of being a dad.
Bruce F. McKenzie
Senior Vice President, The Northern Trust Company
"For 2,000 years, Catholic teaching has emphasized the importance of the family - and of each father's leadership role in his own family. Family and fatherhood is just as important today as it has always been - in fact it may even be more important given the breakdown of so many other civilizing forces in our society.
It is for these reasons that I wholeheartedly endorse Be A Better Dad
Today! This is a great book for every guy who wants to be a better
husband, a better father and yes, a better man. It is full of insight,
encouragement and wisdom - and I strongly recommend it."

About the Author▼▲
The Honorable Gregory Winston Slayton is an American father, professor, diplomat, author, businessman, and philanthropist. Born in Ohio, Professor Slayton grew up without a real father. As a result of that searing experience - and a spiritual awakening in college - Slayton undertook a 30 year study of fatherhood on five different continents. The results of that research - and his own experience as a father of four great kids - form the basis for "Be a Better Dad Today!!" Slayton now resides in Hanover, New Hampshire with his wife of 22+ years and their four children. He teaches at Dartmouth, Harvard and Stanford and continues to work as a venture capitalist. He is also a Distinguished Visiting Professor at UIBE Business School in Beijing. But his first love is being a father and a student of fatherhood.
Earlier in his career, Slayton, an honors graduate of Dartmouth College and the Harvard Business School, was a Silicon Valley CEO and venture capitalist, investing and serving on the Advisory Boards of companies like Google and Salesforce.com. In 2005 Slayton was appointed by President George W. Bush as the United States Consul General and Chief of Mission to Bermuda, a position he held for four years from his swearing in by Secretary of State Rice on August 15, 2005 until August, 2009. Slayton was extended twice by the Obama Administration, reportedly the only Bush appointed ambassador to have been thus honored. He also received the Distinguished Foreign Service Award from members of the Congressional Black Caucus, the only Republican ambassador in United States history to have received that award from the CBC. Today, Slayton is an angel investor via his privately held investment company Slayton Capital.
Slayton and his wife, Marina, founded the Slayton Family Foundation in 1999 and have recently established The Fellowship of Fathers Foundation. They also jointly co-authored and edited the Bermuda bestseller Four Centuries of Friendship: US/Bermuda Relations 1609 - 2009 and donated all proceeds from the sale of the book to local Bermuda charities. The Slaytons will be donating 100% of their royalty profits from "Be a Better Dad Today" to fatherhood charities.

"I learned about life and honor from my father and grandfather, who were my heroes as Naval officers and, most importantly, fathers. Earning their respect was the most lasting ambition of my life, and even though they are no longer with us, I continue to live my life according to the terms of their approval. Their courage and faith were an inspiration to me and a key to my survival in some of my most difficult times. I am grateful for the memories of these two great men and the respect and affection they provided as the patriarchs of our family. I’ve personally known Gregory and his family for years, and I know he exemplifies the title of his book "Be a Better Dad Today!" each and every day of his life. There are certain lessons in life that can best be taught by fathers. My hope is that this book will help every single man who picks it up to be the best father, the best husband, and the best man he can be."
John McCain, United States Senator
"Gregory Slayton writes eloquently about the God given nobility of fatherhood, an institution of grand personal, familial, and societal importance, but also a journey that many men embark on without fully knowing the true path or destination. Slayton deepens our understanding of what being a father means and offers guidance on how fathers can realize their fullest potential.”
Joe Lieberman, United States Senator
"There is no more important job in the world for men than being a good father for our kids. I love being a dad - and I always have.
