Author/Artist Review

Author: Dr. Stephen Muse
Located in: Columbus, GA
Submitted: July 29, 2000

Tell us a little about yourself.  I am Director of Pastoral Counseling Training at the Pastoral Institute, Inc. in Columbus GA. We have a national ministry to clergy in crisis and work with pastors of all denominations from all over the United States.

What was your motivation behind this project?  This volume grew out of our work with clergy in crisis and is designed as a practical "survival manual" and intervention tool for clergy. It addresses the main areas that tend to get clergy in trouble in ministry, rendering them vulnerable to burn out and loss of confidence in themselves and their ministry.

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  A renewed sense of hope and confirmation of the rightness of living out the Gospel personally as well as in their capacity of teacher, preacher and leader in the pastoral ministry.

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  Early in life it was Billy Graham. I was a Presbyterian pastor for 11 years before converting to the Greek Orthodox faith and serving full time as a pastoral psychotherapist and trainer of pastoral counselors.

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  If you love your pastor, consider giving him or her a copy of this book! If you know of a pastor in trouble, alert them to the ministries of the Turner Clergy Center of the Pastoral Institute, Inc. in Columbus, GA (PILINK.org)
