I have read numerous devotional books but none have been so rewarding and helpful as this classic treasure. Clearly, Spurgeon suffered greatly in his life physically and emotionally but God used his sufferings to reach others who are suffering just what 2 Corinthians says, "we comfort through the ways in which we have been comforted." Though God can use us even if we haven't suffered, there is nothing that can take the place of "having been through it" to reach out and help others. Spurgeon definitely has been there and because of his own suffering, he is able to minister on a deeper level than most, imho. This book shines and gives hope, encouragement and help. It was so comforting that I gave a copy to a friend who suffers from chronic illness. She, in turn, was so touched by it (along with her family) that they purchased over 20 copies to give to other people. Words can't really express how wonderful this book is. As a side note, one might wonder since Spurgeon lived in the 1800's if it might be difficult to read with the English being from the 1800's but the editor did a fine job at editing it and has made it easy to understand and read. Since I am unsure of what the term "product quality" referred to (i.e., quality of the product in content or physical quality), so I gave this a 4 star because of the book binding that could use improvement. I haven't had the book all that long for it to require replacing so soon when other books have been read far longer and are still holding together with no problem. The publisher definitely needs to work on improving the binding. But that is my only complaint and it won't deter me from buying more as gifts. This is definitely a "10" star rating in my book. Thank you.

I was introduced to Charles Spurgeon by my mother when she was facing a battle with cancer...."Morning and Evening"......it was a gift from God to my parents.....bringing comfort to all of us in the valley of the shadow of death.

"Beside Still Waters" gives comfort and encourages me as I feel God's presence in the writings of Spurgeon as He restores my soul in grief. I am a widow and so thankful for this devotional.

I am a recent widow and I believe the Lord brought this across my path for just this time. I have always loved Spurgeon and have read almost all of his writings but this author has done us a great service in bringing these particular messages to us in a devotional format. Thank you so much for that. I have purchased several copies and given them to friends undergoing trial and everyone has come back to me with words of praise. I plan on giving more for Christmas gifts.

Haven't finished the book and probably won't. It is not the kind of book you read once and put on the shelf. It is transforming my walk with God at a very difficult time(blindsided by divorce) in my life.

I have taken it for a road test and kicked the tires. I'm recommending this book to as many people as I can.

Like the word of God, we must spread it.

Just can't praise it enough. There were not enough stars for my review and the book more than met my expectations.

Thank you for making it available.
