Great Book for New Convert or Discipleship Classes
August 5, 2012
DISCLAIMER: I received an Advance Reader's Copy of the book Being Jesus' Disciple in the Rose Bible Basics Series from Rose Publishing in exchange for a publicized review of the book.
The thing I love about Rose Products is their simplicity. This book is a very good resource for a New Converts or Discipleship class. It would also be ideal for a one on one discipling encounter as well. It is the basics of the faith, and it is in very simple language. It still has a Christianese feel to it in its language usage, but not so overpowering that a new believer cannot grasp hold of the ideas being presented. This is not a deep theological or philosophical book. And it does not appear that it was intended to be such either. The great thing is that there is a free download of the study guides available from Rose. I could not find any one particular denominational point of view being suggested or endorsed. The book does seem mainly geared toward adults, though most teens should be able to grasp it, as well as some below the teenage years. As with most Rose products, this book offers some very fine diagrams and charts, making it a great resource for those who prefer a visual aid in the learning process. This may not be a very academic book, but its usefulness in explaining what being a disciple of Christ is to someone who does not have a theological background or knowledge is invaluable.
