As I wrap up my first read through of Liz Bohannon's book, I've marked up pages and re-read sections that have me really thinking (and dreaming). Friends..... this book is GOOD! I'm a hard critic. I took the literary criticism courses in college, I write a bit myself, and I'm a self proclaimed skeptic when it comes to "self help" books. This is NOT that. This is a story whisked with wisdom, dashed with humor, sprinkled with joy, and baked full of inspiration - the final treat is worth every bite. (Oh, it's not a cookbook... don't be confused). Crack open this bright yellow book - you won't regret it one plucking bit!

This book was amazing on so many levels. I am grateful Liz took the time to share her vulnerable life experiences with the entire world. As the title includes, the premise of the entire book is focused on "pluck" which is spirited and determined courage. As someone who is not an adventurer, I appreciated the author's zeal for life and honest experiences. She encourages the reader to seek out their deepest "why" which enhances pluck! Once we get to the root of our why, nothing will stop us from pushing forward. One of the greatest pieces I took from this book is to "own my average." In a world that tell us we can be anything (which we can), it is also important to note that owning our average allows us to become freer than we ever imagined and to stop trying to "find your passion." We were already created with passions built within us. There is no need to "find them."

Overall, a tremendous book. I loved the cover and the way she laid out the book. Super simple and easy to read. It definitely had my attention all the way through. I would strongly recommend reading this book!

"Beginner's Pluck" by Liz Forkin Bohannon was an enjoyable read. I really didn't know what to expect with this book. I figured it was going to be more about starting a business, but it ended up being a very good book just for everyday life. The author wrote in a very easy to read fashion. It was inspirational while also funny at times. She is a very talented writer. It felt like she was sitting across from me, and we were just having lunch together! Probably the biggest thing I gained from this book was to quit planning what we you want to do, and just do it! I tend to be the planner, so I spend a lot of time planning things. I am also not a risk taker, so I am more hesitant to jump right in. The author talks about how some of her biggest failures ended up being her greatest successes. Overall, a great read!

I definitely recommend this book to everyone. I received this book from Baker Book for my honest opinion.

LOVE LOVE LOVE how Liz challenges us to go against the grain of the find your passion culture that can be so deflating and overwhelming. We do not simply stumble upon our passion but build it with work, persistence, ups and downs and, dare I say, pluck? I think this is an invaluable message in the current work ethic and cultural climate and hope it can inspire you to keep going through the questions, awkward conversations, doubt and even mediocrity because that is all part of the beautiful process of creating. And if that is not enough of a reason, you will find yourself laughing, crying and laughing tears because Liz seamlessly takes us down stories that span the breadth of a comedy of errors, wonder and soulful restoration. Read this book now, you'll thank me later.

I could not put this book down. I laughed, I cried and felt empowered. Liz wrote every word beautifully so you could feel her feelings inthe whole book. I love the mix of real life stories and great leadership lessons. She reminds us that we are all average and that doesn't mean we can't do great things if we take time to stop. Drop and WOW
