The end of the world is coming.
From roadside signs to science fiction films, this slogan underscores our societys nervous fascination with the future. Whether its a giant asteroid, a worldwide plague, or some other global catastrophe, the end of the world is a terrifying prospectat least for those who have no idea what it will be like.
For Christians, however, the end of the world should be anything but dreadful. In fact, it should be something we actually look forward to. Why? Because God has told us how the world will end. And He has assured us that the end of this age will mark the beginning of a new, glorious one in which we will serve and worship Him in sinless perfection. Our eternal hope, as believers, is intimately tied to the end of this world.
All of this is laid out in the book of Revelation. Not only is Revelation the inspired Word of God, it is also the only New Testament book that includes a promised spiritual blessing for those who study and apply its message. As such, it is an essential part of every Christians devotional life. Those who ignore Revelation deprive themselves of a rich treasure of divine truth, and the promised blessings that come from understanding that truth. Join John MacArthur as he explains the book of Revelation in a way that is both doctrinally precise and intensely practical.
BibleGuy5 Stars Out Of 5Excellent Book on RevelationJanuary 5, 2018BibleGuyQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I have been greatly blessed by John MacArthur's commentary on the book of Revelation. John does an excellent job of documenting the content of the Revelation. He shares valuable insights on the book, but is careful not to force interpretations on passages that cannot be dogmatically interpreted. I have shared copies of this book with fellow Christians.
Wowise634 Stars Out Of 5Because The Time is NearFebruary 23, 2016Wowise63Quality: 4Value: 3Meets Expectations: 3I would consider this an entry level book. Even though, it has very good discussions, Mr. MacArthur falls short on addressing various passages. Many are left without any insight.
Steelfaith3 Stars Out Of 5A Bit DisappointedFebruary 12, 2016SteelfaithQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 2John MacArthur is arguably one of the greatest Bible teachers alive today and while he's very meticulous about his explanation of each verse of Revelations, he still has not connected the dots with the identity of the Anti-Christ, the Beast, the 666. He also still equates the 7th head of the beast with the Roman empire but the Roman empire was the 6th head. The 7th head of the beast is the Turkish Ottoman Empire, the 7th and most violent of the empires that ruled the middle east. When the Turkish Ottoman empire is reunited and revived, THAT is the wound by the sword that is miraculously healed. The Turkish Ottoman Empire was killed by the sword of World War 1 and then the countries were partitioned by allies into the countries we know today. The man who reunites and revives the Caliphate in the middle east is the anti-Christ. Get ready, folks. Time is most certainly drawing near as the current Turkish President Erdogan is trying to do that very thing right now as I type this. Be ready and don't be misled.
Myrtle R. Hodgson5 Stars Out Of 5This is the third and fourth copy I have bought of this book.April 2, 2015Myrtle R. HodgsonQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I studied Revelations with this book before and loaned it to a friend and she studied it and we both loved it. I wanted to do a Bible Study using this book but my pastor said that this book alone isn't enough because it is one man's view of Revelations. I will be studying Revelations starting next September in BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) and am looking forward to it. I am going to use "Because the Time is Near" to start studying Revelations on my own starting this May to get ready for BSF. So, between the two studies I should have a better understanding of Revelations. Myrtle R. Hodgson
MizephyrAge: Over 65Gender: male1 Stars Out Of 5Ignores Reformation (historicist) interpretationsDecember 9, 2013MizephyrAge: Over 65Gender: maleQuality: 1Value: 1Meets Expectations: 1Unfortunately too many in this day and age have accepted futurism and preterism when it come s the interpretation of Daniel and Revelation. The Reformers followed true historicism principles which properly lead to correct conclusions. THe scriptures are not primarily about the Jews, but Jesus Christ Who is the Answer to all questions concerning humanity and sin.
